the "experts on TV?"

Like Bryan Hayes?, Justin Bourne

Campbell is a bad goalie on a good team, Blackwood is a good goalie on a very very bad team.

I know you are going to say "but Campbell was an all star."

Leo Komarov and John Scott were also all stars once so that means literally nothing.

Also he made the all star game because he had a good November that's it that's the only month that Leafs have gotten 900 goaltending the rest has been trash.

As for Blackwood he's had a rough year but his first 2 seasons were very solid and he's only 25, yeah I'll take that guy because I'm not willing to ignore his first 2 seasons

Scott was a prank vote, and Leo was the beneficiary of min 1 player per team rule, neither of which is applicable to Campbell.

Blackwood has been trash for Jersey too. It is not just on the team in front of him.

There is more promise for him than for Kallgren, but his best season thus far is pretty much as an average starter.

The rest has ranged from good backup to terrible tandem goalie.

Blackwood is effectively a reclamation project at this point. If Jersey took back Mrazek, he may get Matt Murray value. That is the most I would go for him though. Something like Mrazek, Abruzzese, and the WPG 3rd.

Really?
Hahaha ok if You say so, don’t forget his 5w in 8 games to start his career
Don’t hold anything back please
I just know I watch the games and am very comfortable with him in net

I know there hasn’t been much talk of goalie struggles on tv like it was before when mrazek and Campbell were really struggling

We’re back to being Stanley cup contenders haven’t u heard??
81.25% save% so far tonight, tell me again you like him as the backup

Lmao, now you're making up my argument just so you can defeat it. Bahahahahaha... I wasn't gonna say jack squat about him being an all-star. So go ahead and make up the arguments if that's what it takes for you to feel like you're winning.

Blackwood sucks. Your suggestion to get him to be our starter is hypocritical given your demands to get a legitimate #1. He's not a legitimate #1. He's not even a legitimate backup at this point.

I'm questionable on Campbell just like everyone else, but your Blackwood suggestion is beyond laughable.

Want a legit #1? Get Helly out of WPG or Varly off the island.

I'd be all for both those suggestions, Gibson too

U think all those tip ins were his fault lol
I was at the game
Made enough saves to buy the offence time
Another W for the bad goalie!!!

Please stop hating

I hate all all goalies not just Kallgren

I hate Marazek for being both garbage and injury prone and having to be carried to wins by the offense.

I hate Campbell for being garbage, and injury prone, and having to be carriewd to wins by the offense.

I hate Kallgren for being garbage and having to be carried to wins by the offense which.

I hate players that don't pull their weight and our goaltending for most of the year has been carried to wins by the #2 offense in the NHL this is proven by the fact they have had the worst goaltending in the league for 4 months, soon to be 5.

I don't like players that have to be carried by other players it's the same reason I don't like Justin Holl

I think you hate way too much. I really don't know how you enjoy watching hockey being filled with so much hate for certain players.

Our goaltending has been poor this season but I think hating someone like Kallgren is weird. He's done pretty well for the most part. He's been what you'd want from a 4th stringer. Campbell has had a very Andersen level season. But he's been good lately.

Mrazek... uh.... yeah.

But anyway trading a lot of picks/prospects for another goaltender just seems like a bad move. Gibson and Blackwood would probably be good but spending a lot of assets to get them seems like a very poor decision.

Our goaltending has been poor this season but I think hating someone like Kallgren came in and has done very well. He's not dominating, but he's been what you'd want from a 4th stringer. Campbell has had a very Andersen level season. But he's been good lately.

it's simple nobody else is getting carried on this team, the guys that I don't like are the guys that are getting carried
that's the goaltending and Justin Holl

Nobody is carrying, Matthews, or Marner or Bunting, Reilly, Tavares, Nylander, Engvall, Mikyehev these guys aren't being carried they all contribute

so does Brodie and Bush, I LOVE Bush I want him back I don't know if he can be brought back but I want him back.

Muzz is tough to watch sometimes I think he's nearing the end the injury issues are getting to be a lot.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is I do like the VAST majority of this team even the guys I do think they should move on from on guys that I like but I don't want to pay them because I don't think they can do this again.

Engvall and Mikyehev fall into that catagorey I'm not sure they can do this again I'd be wary of paying them.

the only players I truly can't stand are the goalies and Holl

I like the rest because the rest actually contribute and aren't being carried

Why does getting an actual goaltender feel like a bad move to you? imagine a save, if they could get one they'd be up with Florida and they'd be taking on Washington in round 1and they'd CRUSH the capitals.

but they can't so they will end up against Tampa or Boston it looks like Tampa but there is only 3 points between Boston and Tampa and Tampa does have a 3 game stretch coming against Nashville Toronto and Florida so that's far from decided in my opinion.

this team can skate with ANYBODY Tampa, included, they are going to win 50+ games and have the greatest regular season in franchise history with 2 possible 100+ point scorers, they are breaking franchise records left and right.

and yet they are legitimately under achieveing because they can't get a save

so yeah I do want to bring in somebody else in the off season, in fact more than 1 person

because I know how good this team actually is

and seeing as you are a mod on a hockey site that tells me you folloe the sport closely, which tells me you do too.

At least you should.

We can blame our goalie sure but there is a lot work our defense also needs to clean up. Unless we get a goalie like Vasi or price its not gonna be a cure all. I also don't see a goalie with a potential like markstrom who was flying around before finally finding stability in the pools imo.

Yea it's not consistent but Campbell has slowly been showing his form again and Kallgren for our 4th option is holding bay not bad. There is still some time in the off season to find a good unsatisfied or annoyed goalie to be a 1a or 1b goalie.

So the Hagel for Raddysh trade isnt looking so good for Tampa with Hagel only having 3 points in 14 games while Raddysh has 8 in 14.

Wait....wasnt there more to that trade?

Jokes aside, not sure why more people arnt starting to talk about this. I'm guessing they are waiting for the playoffs to be the deciding factor I guess?

I’ve had this thought too. The ask would be enormous but the timeline of Hellebucyk for two more seasons would be perfect. I also didn’t realize he was still only 28.

Problem is I don’t think Winnipeg really know what direction they’re going in.

Hellebucyk while likely impossible would be absolutely ideal. Dude was putting up vezina numbers behind their trash defence. Someone posted the stats from two years ago as well; he had by far the best save percentage in high danger situations in the league and it wasn't even close. He'd make us a cup favourite.

No way a player shooting at 20+% for the only time in his career regressed? But I was told he was going to become a PPG+ guy going from Chicago to Tampa, players that score a lot on bad teams always improve on good teams.

Regular season alone, only the Lindholm and Giordano trades look really good so far.

Brisebois got taken to the cleaners. I get that Hagel is signed long-term to a good deal that fits their cap well but sheesh...

We'll see how Hagel does through that deal though.

Yup, the prices were so stupid this deadline that standing mostly pat looks pretty good.

Florida and Tampa gutted their futures going for it in the crazy strong East and the proper move was probably to make a shrewd move and not a crazy one.

Now we have no one to bid against at next year's deadline unless Florida/Tampa gut their depth for picks.

If Hagel doesnt score goals, he's gonna fall out of favor pretty quick.

One guy was a throw in on the Gio trade and the other cost 2 1sts and 2 prospects...

What a crazy deadline. Dubas was one of the few rational GMs out there.

What about the other guy who’s name I’d butcher if I attempted it? How’s he doing?
He was an under the radar, crash and bang target in this thread, iirc?
