Blackwood was solid before this year as well. Just a perfect storm of crap happened to him in Jersey this year. I think this is the guy to go for. (if Campbell shits the bed)

Campbell has been shitting the bed for almost 5 months now, it's not an if anymore.

If this team did go on a run and win a championship it would be entirely on the back of the offense

I'd prefer Gibson because I believe he's a top 10 guy in the league he's just on a shit team.

but it does appear NJ is open to trading Blackwood and he's only 25 so he could be the guy for 15 years

If you are going to get a goalie, then go get a goalie, go get Gibson if the Ducks look to move him, go get Varlamov, go get Blackwood.

Go get the guy that you believe can be the guy, enough with the question marks, this team can score at will go get them a goalie and make them unstopable because if they could get a save they would be.

and before I hear "we don't have the money."

look it's not pretty but it looks like both Marazek and Muzzin are headed to LTIRetiremnt

that's 9.3 million on LTIR

trade Kerfoot and Holl to clear their money.

I like Kerfoot a lot but Bunting has proven you can get guys to do what Kerfoot does for less than Kerfoot makes

there are ways to make the money work so get it done.
Kerfoot for sure IMO. If he was a legit center it might be a little different but they will have Anderson, Steeves, Robertson, Abruzzese and Holmberg all looking for work and all but Abruzzese are pretty well cooked and ready for a long look.

That hasn’t stopped. Pretty much everyone is concerned with the goalie situation.

Wish I could share your optimism with Kallgren.
Concerned yes because there’s def question marks based on lack of experience, injury etc

But I haven’t heard commentators on tv talk about leafs goalie situation much at all since kallgren stepped in, more importantly mrazek stepped out and Campbell makes his way back

Before that when it was mrazek and Campbell hurt/not playing well the world was ending

Yeah............ I don't know where you got that idea but you are wrong that most certinaly did not stop with Kallgren

It's exactly the same if not worse because his GAA is almost 3 and his save% is under 900.

Kallgren has done nothing to make fans less nervous
Really?
Hahaha ok if You say so, don’t forget his 5w in 8 games to start his career
Don’t hold anything back please
I just know I watch the games and am very comfortable with him in net

I know there hasn’t been much talk of goalie struggles on tv like it was before when mrazek and Campbell were really struggling

We’re back to being Stanley cup contenders haven’t u heard??

I would suggest to you his 5 wins in 8 games has more to do with the fact he plays behind the #2 offense in the entire league than how good he's been

in fact that can be said for all our goalies none of them are great

Would a 2nd '22 and Eric Robinson for Alex Kerfoot make sense? That's a 2 million dollars worth of savings, Robinson is signed for two more years at a palatable number (1,6 per) - he's a big forward and has had over 70% of his starts in the d-zone.

Mrazek is 12-6-0, and Campbell is still well above .500 in 2022 despite having like a .890 save percentage. Our offense has outscored our problems, and our defense makes it as easy as possible for goalies so we can still squeak out wins even when our goaltending lets us down.

Kallgren is no different. He looked good for the first few games, but he is not an NHL backup. His glove needs to improve a lot and his rebound control is nowhere near good enough. If he improves that in the offseason, then maybe he can steal the job next year.

He’s been awful for 3 years. Your goalie hot takes are really mid tier a best

Ok our goalies suck
We have no chance
I’ll prefer to take more seriously what experts say on tv and such but Point taken thanks

Gibson and Blackwood likely the main names available trade wise this summer.

Blackwood likely the better of the two because John Gibson will have inflated trade value to his name only. However, at the same time, if the Ducks ask was appropriate for Gibson, he’d be the guy I’d prefer.

So, you're shitting on Campbell (who was fighting through a rib injury), but your 2nd replacement option is a guy who has never put up as good numbers and is, in fact, declining year after year? Sounds like a real recipe for success...

Think Robinson signed is more valuable to CBJ than one year of Kerfoot for a rebuilding team.

What happens with the Jets in the off-season, do they re-tool or blow it up?
I’d ask about Hellebuyck.

I’ve had this thought too. The ask would be enormous but the timeline of Hellebucyk for two more seasons would be perfect. I also didn’t realize he was still only 28.

Problem is I don’t think Winnipeg really know what direction they’re going in.

He’s definitely a guy I’d pay a pretty penny for. I didn’t really follow him much this year but Winnipeg is a train wreck defensively and he was holding them up the last couple years, 1 year removed from being a vezina finalist and still pretty young for a goalie.

A bit unrealistic though as you’re right I don’t think the Jets go that extreme but if there was a possibility of him being moved I’d be all over it.

he didn't have a rib injury for 4 straight months stop using that bull shit excuse

Said it eariler this thread there is a difference between a good team with bad goaltending and a bad team with good goaltending.

Gibson is a good goalie on a bad team.

Toronto is a good team with bad goaltending

Put Gibson on the Leafs and his numbers go up significantly and so do the Leafs because they'd be getting saves

I'd be all over him too but I think the Jets are a year away from that move

The problem with pulling the trigger on a 1# Goalie trade is there's so much fluidity among the position. Other than a very small handful of guys who are consistently amazing, a guy can be a top 10 goalie one season and look like a borderline backup the next

There are not too many "experts" on TV. Most of them barely know more than an average HF poster based on what they say most of the time.

Even then, I haven't heard any real high end praise for Kallgren. Pretty much that he has been a decent fill-in, which he has been. Being a decent fill-in doesn't make you a future NHL backup though.

I like Robinson and I’d do Kerfoot for him 1 for 1 but the Leafs should be all set on bottom 6 LW for awhile between Engvall, Mikheyev, Robertson, Abruz, Steeves, Holmberg, Knies even Clifford.

Why?

Robinson is a solid bottom 6 type guy, but that is all he is... And as you mentioned, we have a ton of prospects who are ready (or almost ready) to that kind of role.

Kerfoot is a legit top 9 guy who can play top 6. He is much more valuable, especially since he will almost certainly put up 50+ points this year.

the "experts on TV?"

Like Bryan Hayes?, Justin Bourne
Oh, so you can outright dismiss Campbell's situation, but with Blackwood, his numbers are bad because of his "situation". Please go on...

Campbell is a bad goalie on a good team, Blackwood is a good goalie on a very very bad team.

I know you are going to say "but Campbell was an all star."

Leo Komarov and John Scott were also all stars once so that means literally nothing.

Also he made the all star game because he had a good November that's it that's the only month that Leafs have gotten 900 goaltending the rest has been trash.

As for Blackwood he's had a rough year but his first 2 seasons were very solid and he's only 25, yeah I'll take that guy because I'm not willing to ignore his first 2 seasons
