Leafs need to clear cap and have some useful players they can move.
Kerfoot to Dallas for 2022 2nd and 2023 3rd, Muzzin to LA for a 2022 3rd,
Mrazek 1 mill retained to Buffalo for a 5th in 2023,
Holl to Winnipeg for a 2022 3rd.
Leafs add 1 2nd, 3 3rds, 1 5th.
Leafs also gain approximately 13.9 mill in cap space.

I want Askarov. Gibson has been bad for three years and Blackwood is horrible. Varlamov I could live with though.

Askarov was my favorite 2020 prospect as well but I’m not sure he would be a viable option for a few more years.

Mrazek may be possible to be dealt to a team that struggles to land free agents like Buffalo or New Jersey.
Other potential is to trade him for someone with a similar cap hit and take your chances they are better like Dreidger, but would depend on what happens with Campbell.

I'd say we are due for a Carolina style overhaul of our goalies though, everyone out and try again, unless Jack leads us on a long playoff run.

Unless an obvious big fish shakes free or they completely shit the bed in the post season I think Campbell gets mrazek money and they either try to rehab petr’s value or they offload him for next to nothing and bring in a vet platoon/back up for $2m range. Maybe jersey or Seattle swap issues in net trading drieger or Blackwood for mrazek with whatever else to even value up if need be.

Blackwood will probably be expensive. I’m sure Jacks back, but they most likely do pursue another similar goalie to tandem with him. Someone like Samsonov feels likely to me.

I'd prefer to give Mrazek another season before buying him out. Can't play any worse next year and if he plays well we could trade him.

IMO, the longer you wait, the worse it's going to get. There's no way that he can come back after what seems like his 4th groin injury in the last 3 years and play much better than what he's shown this year.

With a lot of decisions to make in the off-season, the sooner you can get out of his contract, the better it is for the Leafs. You can basically get the equivalent to Mrazek's production from what they're currently getting from Kallgren at 3mill less.

I would only consider it if getting out was not expensive. Please, no more 1st or 2nd picks or similar value.

Too late. Dubas should have answered the phone when so-called teams were calling about Mrazek as per Marek rumour. Now he is left holding the bag.

Says who? Tonedog and hotpaws? Well dang. Better forward the memo to the rest of the league. There will be a market for mrazek just like it was going to be a burden to unload Ritchie and just like it was going to cost multiple firsts to upgrade the back end.
Petr is targeted to be back around the end of the first round or some time in the second, and with how hot and cold jacks been we could turn to him yet this season. He has led Carolina to the ecf and the second round in seasons past so I wouldn’t put a resurgence past Petr.
Also with how he’s been able to swiftly rectify mistakes rather painlessly I would Never underestimate this GM.

There are contracts out there that I would consider trading for. There's a scenario that I could see a lateral swap of Mrazek for Brett Connelly from Chicago. No salary or additional compensation needed. Connelly has been buried in the AHL for a majority of this year and has 1 year remaining on his deal. Chicago doesn't have a goaltender signed for next season on their current NHL roster. Connelly makes 3.5mill vs Mrazek at 3.8. You get out of the contract 1 year sooner and maybe you find something with Connelly on the 3rd or 4th line. He's still only 29 years old and basically a point per game guy in the AHL.

Sure there will be a market for Mrazek just like there was one for Marleau, Z, Ritchie etc. People forget we gave up a conditional 2nd/3rd in the RItchie deal and took an injured Hutton's contract off their hands.

From Marek tweet:

My reporting on Hockey Night in Canada - The Toronto Maple Leafs have not initiated talks with other teams about Petr Mrazek but teams have called about him. There is a market there. All goalie decisions for Kyle Dubas, however are summer decisions.

Conditional 2nd/3rd and got Lyubushkin + Dzingel back too*

Not sure why Dzingel was involved other than probably to dump his contract. Doubt pending UFA Lub worth a 2nd or 3rd.

What is sad about the trade is that Zona made out like bandits now that Ritchie has a pulse.

Just wait, Ritchie has another year on his contract and will have to go through another off-season, just to come back and look disinterested.

LOL yup. Then again, he might re-engage once he figures out he'll need to kick it back in gear so he can get another sweet deal.

The Leafs/Marlies need a Hutchinson replacement at the very least, probably from Europe, but Petruzzelli getting an ELC is definitely something that should happen.
Kallgren/Woll/Petruzzelli/Scott would be fine AHL depth.

Andrew Hammond is a vet guy I would target as a cheap NHL backup/AHL guy if we need one. Has always had good NHL numbers (underlying as well) despite the amount of time between NHL stretches. Definitely much better than Hutch and has played in a Canadian pressure packed market before.

I mean the Ritchie situation is likely a good lesson it's not overly a big deal. It cost the Leafs a conditional pick (but they also got back a useful piece in the deal).

All it takes is one other interested party for a deal to happen
