Knies family are the Slovaks. Meyers' are American (but likely German way back as you say) I love how dad describes Matthew as mean. :)
I believe Knies must be traded after watching this video.

If he is mean to his dad, is this a personality and character we want anywhere near our team?

I think it’s obvious he is highly flawed and we’d best move on from him.

Might as well move on from that Auston fella while we are at it. Guy has bust written all over him too……

:sarcasm:

Yeah Kampf's icetime isn't going to go down regardless of what "line" he's on anyways. Keefe clearly loves having him leading a shutdown defense first line

What the Leafs likely need is a guy who can help an aging Spezza carry the burden of driving the puck on the other bottom six line
I'm not sure if Spezza comes back next season, but if he does, I think Blackwell and Steeves would be fun to see together. Two spark plugs flying around with Spezz. Could be a good energy line. Simmonds can be our 13th.

Probably gets a 1 year league minimum deal from a team (maybe even the Leafs). And just retires/terminates the deal of he can't dress

The Leafs would give him that if that all he wants/can get. I think the Leafs would give him a slight raise even.

I’m beginning to think more and more that even if Muzzin plays this playoffs, he will LTIRetire after this year. Listening to both him and Keefe talk, it doesn’t sound like he’s going to chance his long term health to me.

Have link to these interviews, I'd like to listen. Thanks

Let me see if I can find the links, one sec

Paraphrasing passed along by a friend or family can be dangerous. Looks like the actual quote from Keefe is much more innocuous than I was lead to believe:

Keefe on Muzzin: "He's dealing with something not related to his injury that he just returned from, but he is less than 100% and needs a couple of days of treatment for that to settle down. He’s not going to play tomorrow. We’re expecting him to be available after that." #Leafs

I was also told Muzzin commented a couple weeks ago saying he “has to start thinking about his health and after hockey” which is entirely believable he’d have said, but I can’t source it

Why would they consider giving him a raise? They know the liability that they have with signing him and paying anything more than they already do is crazy.

If anything, I would make it a 1mill base and load up the incentives in his contract based on games played that could work out to be equal to his current salary.

Maybe this?

As much as I hate to say it...Muzzin LTIRetiring would probably be a huge boon to us next year. I don't think he's top 4 calibre anymore, and it would open up cash for Campbell, Blackwell, Gio, Boosh and Mik.

If he isn't right post injuries, LTIRetiring would be best for both him, and us. Judging where he's at, after a number of injuries that have affected his play this year, would be unwise. It all comes down to his health, as to whether he's capable of playing at his prior high level.

Premature about LTIRetiring Muzzin, unless he suffers another blow to the head this season of course. I don’t think he would have returned as soon as he did if there was a chance of LTIR.

Also, I don’t know what the answer is in goal next season but I’m really not sure it’s Campbell, too many question marks around his play plus health over a full season.

I am curious to see which prospect or player has fallen out of favor that we can target in the off-season...Obviously, there are situations like Comtois and whatnot from the Ducks but there might be more?
