Eichel is the Carmelo Anthony of the NHL. Loads of talent, 0 effort, 0 f***s given about defence, loser attitude when things don't go his way, individual stats > team stats

Kawhi is like Datsyuk. Elite 2 way monster, as great as he is offensively his defensive game is that much better.

The only argument in Miller's favour is raw points and some garbage that can be made up like "intangibles" to suit a narrative.

This is why we get roasted as hard as we do on the mains. Nylander is not even in the same realm as Miller. I love Willy by the way, huge fan but come on lol. Miller does everything Nylander does but better. Miller is elite, borderline tier 1 player.

No, we get roasted because fans outside of Toronto have no ability to be rational when it comes to the Leafs.

Miller is a mess outside of randomly being able to score when he went to Vancouver. His impacts are awful, his underlyings are lucky, and he's apparently a toxic personality.

Before I even consider a Willy trade, I want to see how he does in the playoffs. We can knock Willy, and he often deserves it, but I've always thought he plays his best hockey in games that matter.

Playoffs, International play, rivalry games seem to bring out the best in Will.

Why are we trading for an old guy on an expiring contract who will likely walk unless we pay him $12 million a year for 7 years?

Nylander might not be that great, but he's still very good, young, and has a few years of control left. This is just more of "the grass is greener" syndrome that Leafs fans have been suffering with for years.

The problem is Nylander and Matthews contracts come up at the same time.
Nylander will probably want 8.5 or 9 mil, I don't think he shows enough consistency to command such a contract. The last yr of his cont he has a NTC, so if we are going to trade him this summer will get us his top value.
Note - if there is some way to trade JT I would as well, but we are stuck with him.

Kawhi himself shouldn't have been available. It was a VERY specific situation. Cirelli isn't even close to Kawhi. Prime Datsyuk is probably the best comparison to Kawhi.

Kawhi was a top 5-10 player in the NBA before coming to TO.
Won it all and was Finals MVP.
Prime Kopitar is closest to Kawhi.

Forget top 5-10… Kawhi was easily a top 3 player when he was traded to Toronto. Cirelli is nowhere near that level and should never have his name mentioned in the same sentence as Kawhi.

The more apt comparison would be if Matthews demanded out and someone Kawhi'd us.

Imagine if we trade Matthews for someone like Barzal - flashy, more term, good offensive game but nowehere near as complete as Matthews (but also more term than Matthews).
