In a purely 'move the guy who is going to be replaced; kind of way, Tavares+ for McDavid would make more sense IMO.
His skating is starting to become more and more concerning, he was never the fleetest of foot but you can see him loosing the race to pucks and on defensive assignments.

You cant be serious. Please do not post this on the main boards or you're gonna get laughed at

You know Edmonton would have a say in that.
Oh I dont think the deal works, not what I said at all!
I meant more it makes more sense from our perspective.

Obviously McDavid Matthews Tavares Nylander is still a stupid good top 4 Fs

To Leafs:

Leon Draisaitl

To Oilers:

Mitchell Marner
2022 1st
Nick Abruzzesse
Filip Kral

Leafs top 6:

Bunting - Matthews - Draisaitl
Kerfoot - JT - Nylander

Seriously, if McD is on the market, how many teams have the cap space and the talent to trade for him?
TB, Panthers, Leafs, Avs and Rangers.
Personally, I think Rangers got a high chance, they have the Leafs Killer goalie, Trouba, along with Kakko and Laf.
Leafs have Marner but would Marner solve any Oilers problem beside keeping Dari’s happy.
TB and Panthers probably won’t do it bc their team is fine and getting McD means one of their top guys is heading the other way.
Avs, not sure how they can do it unless Landy or Rantanen is going the other way.

Well Morgan Rielly for Victor Hedman makes more sense from our perspective too. Trades don't work that way.

Florida would have to do some serious cap maneuvering, they've got 6.5m in dead space next season from Yandle buyout. But they definitely have some attractive roster pieces. All of TB's top players have NMC.

As it stands, Avs won't be able to afford Kadri and both goalies pending UFAs, it would make more sense for them to target Draisaitl who is the cheaper option.

If the Oilers are tearing it down, NYR and LA can put forward the best offers. I wouldn't sleep on the Kings, they have the prospects and draft capital to acquire anyone. They're in a weak division, but probably still a few years away, not sure McDavid would welcome the move if he wants to contend now.

No. Scratch off TB, Panthers and Rangers due to either Cap space, or players with NMC, who wouldn't waive to go to Edmonton.

The list is really Colorado, Minnesota, St. Louis, Toronto, from the top half of the NHL standings. Didn't look at the bottom half, as my guess is he'd want to go somewhere he could compete. Kings might have the pieces to do a trade, but after, they aren't in better shape than Edmonton now.

There’s some argument to acquiring Josh Manson, even though we should avoid him because he’s overpaid for the value he actually brings.

However Ben Chiarot shouldn’t even be in the discussion. He’s a bad player. They are wanting a first round pick for him.

No thanks

I don’t know what Josh Manson’s skating is like these days but whoever we pair with Muzzin has to be a considerably better skater that can get around the ice.

In terms of Manson, like, Holl and Ritchie would need to go the other way to match up cap hits. Then it would depend on the pick or prospect they want.

I’d still run with Liljegren beside Muzzin, and Manson beside Sandin, when healthy.

Think next season the plan will be Liljegren with Muzzin, I don't believe he's ready for that role just yet. I wanted Tanev over Brodie at the time, but I'm more than happy with Brodie now.

I'd aim a little higher and shoot for Rasmus Andersson, the cost may be a bit steep though. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapaine all need new deals, Flames are going to have to move out some term.

We should just go after Chris Tanev.

He’s always been what people think Josh Manson is.
Yep. A lot of us have wanted Tanev for years now. I don't think Calgary would consider moving him though. Would they? Maybe if they want Valimaki back in at some point.

Manson at 50% is at 2.05M

By capfriendly, leafs will have 928K available at the trade deadline

So manson at 50% leafs just have to save 1.1M like trade away dermott

Anaheim is probably going to have to fall out of the play-offs before they start trading guys away.

They are second in their division right now. Yes many teams have games in hand, but until they actually drop out, they aren't unloading.

Sure when you already played 5 game over dallas. 7 over winnipeg 8 over calgary, its a little bit mire easier to get more points...

Agreed. Manson would be a nice pickup however.

The more I think about it another good pickup would be Soucy. Seattle is almost a sure thing to sell at the deadline if not sooner.

That sounds like Brodie or Liljegren, although they should probably stay paired with Rielly & Sandin.

I'd say Manson's skating isn't as good as good as Holl's but much better than Muzzin's still. I think he'd be a solid pickup wherever Keefe decides to play his right side D.
