Holl plays a much more defensive role than Zub does at this point... with 1.5x the PK time too.

The Leafs might as well just keep Holl. He is playing much better since getting scratched, and now just needs to put up some points. Besides, moving Holl and adding Zub still gives us 7 guys who need top 6 minutes.

I've been under the impression, that Zub has been used on the most difficult situations in Ottawa - but apparently I have misunderstood. :-)

Holl has been flaming garbage for 2 playoffs in a row (the only two he's ever played!)

And not only was the Muzzin-Holl pairing the toughest usage marchup pairing, but Holl was forced to play half those minutes without Muzzin thanks to injury, and had to fill that role with lesser D partners.

There are 700 non-felon team destroyers playing in this league.

Pick one.
Lol
700 that can produce and play top line?
Anyone isn’t all his BS off ice stuff? From what I know he’s never been convicted nor gone to jail?

consistant 30 goal power forward that plays hard
Even in playoffs

I've been under the impression, that Zub has been used on the most difficult situations in Ottawa - but apparently I have misunderstood. :)

He plays with Thomas Chabot, and obviously there are certain responsibilities with doing that, but there are also a ton of benefits. Same goes for Brodie playing with Rielly.

I don't see why the Leafs are adding defensemen at this point. We have one of the best defenses in the league and there is practically no one out there who we can afford from an asset and cap perspective who can upgrade the 7 guys we currently have. I don't think Zub moves the needle, and may even be a downgrade if he is expected to play in the role he had in Ottawa.

Aren't you the stats guy, xGF and xGA being 2 big ones you tout, those numbers say Muzzin - Holl have been terrible.

Real results have been good though, puck luck or something they don't identify?

Greenway or Debrusk would definitely be nice additions but I do like our current D depth.

just curious…do you think the reaction on here would have been the same if this with Evander Kane would have happened when we were 2-4-1 early this season when everyone was losing their minds on the team and dubas??? Wasn’t that long ago
Yes. Even if you ignore Kane being a complete moron when it comes to everyday life, remember at least two teams he played for a majority of his teammates hated him, and these were 6 years apart, and the team he played for in between was a colossal tire fire.

That's too much.

I think we're good. Mikheyev is useful depth. We just need to be healthy and clicking by the time playoffs come.

Agree that we don't NEED Miller. But damn that is the best top 6 in the league. Bottom 6 looks great too.

Wonder if the Leafs should look at a guy like Jake Bean? (I'm not going to act like I know a whole lot about his playing style)

But, from what I gather - he's a decent sized LH dman that can play the right side and likes the offensive side of the puck.

Sounds similar to a young Brodie... might be a good mentorship and upgraded partner for Muzz

Just for the sake of discussion...use it as a base whatever...would you do something like this;

Vancouver:
JT Miller (50% retained)
Sutter (depth)

Toronto
1 of Robertson/Amirov
Kerfoot
Engvall

Could Vancouver do better / The Leafs need to add?
Are we giving up too much?

Yea I would rather take Sutter out, swap Kerfoot for Ritchie on our end, and then add futures (even a 1st round pick) to make it happen.

You can always move Kerfoot for value later if need be but you sacrifice as little NHL depth as possible and add a legit top 6 LW

I had figured in my iteration I would roll...

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Miller-JT-88
Mikhayev-Kampf-Kase
Ritchie-Spezza-Simmonds
Sutter

What are you doing in yours?

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Miller-JT-88
Kerfoot-Kampf-Kase
Soup-Spezza-Simmonds ???

I liked Soup to end up there but in reality he's not much of a scoring threat...maybe contract year he figures it out.

A top prospect and a 1st is an overpayment. Miller is good but he's not that good.

Miller-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Mikheyev-Kampf-Kase -shutdown line
Bunting-Spezza-Ho-Sang -fun
Simmonds/Clifford

Kerfoot has been fine with JT and Nylander and is actually on pace for close to 50 points now.

Bunting has been good too, but he can bump around if something isn't working and Miller is a better player so he gets the bump.

Mikheyev worked well on our shutdown line last year, especially with Hyman and Engvall. He jumps onto that LW.
