We can discuss trades offered on the trade board, we can't link to individual posts within those threads talking about how far off base someone's opinion is, as that's no longer talking about the trade proposal anymore.

Same reason we can't link to posts in the opposition gdt. That's not talking about the game.
So what you're saying is that this would get shut down fast?

If you call Vancouver id rather have JT Miller if you can make the money work.

JT Miller is under contract for 8 years (meaning we'd have to trade actual, valuable assets for him) and he's a lazy diva.
Horvat is a free agent this summer and works like a horse.

I agree with you, but after watching guys like Hartman, Gaudreau try to fill those spots, Horvat would feel like a franchise center in comparison.
For a couple if years, then he hits 30, and we've got 5 more years of him. I do like his FO ability, though. Still if we have to pay him 4-5 times what Hartman makes.... meh. I'd rather save the cash and go big game hunting at some point later on. I don't think that adding Horvat and subtracting Dumba is going to get us to a Cup

I don't necessarily disagree with any of this either. I think Horvat is maybe one of the right pieces, but at the wrong time. If we were at a point where some of our prospects like Yurov, Ohgren, Lambos, O'Rourke, etc were NHL regulars already, and Horvat was still a 27/28 year old UFA, I think it could be an excellent fit.

But the timing doesn't work because, as you said, he'll be 30 soon, and 31ish when our dead cap ends, which means he'll be significantly older than a lot of our core when we're finally ready to actually compete.

So if it were up to me, I would wait a few years, and then sign whoever the Horvat of that summer is.

NYI put Bellows on waivers today. I'm not a fan of his, but I wouldn't mind if MN picked him up. Just for something different than the 5'10" trio of Dewar, Jost, and Steel.
