As Mike Tyson pointed out “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face”.Yeah and with the comments by Chevy on Cole it sounds like he will be first in line to replace PLD in the middle. It may actually give us a stronger forward core if we can add another middle 6 forward.
NoWould you trade Scheifele for Nylander and resign him at 9.5M?
If Carolina is moving Pesce I wonder if a deal around Pesce for Scheifele with some adds on either side would work.
I can't see Helle going to the Sens, but if there was a deal there I would prefer one of their C's like Norris or Pinto+.I would love to see a trade with the Sens.. players involved Helly and Chabot.
Adding pieces and picks from either side to make it work.
Sens are gonna be pretty good, and if Helly truly wants to win he has a chance there

I agree with this. There are only so many starting goalie jobs and teams will start locking things up early. Just take the best offer and move on.If we can get Barron, Kupari, Samberg and Vilardi locked up at a total of 10 million or less, that leaves 5ish million for a backup goalie and two whatever skaters before any trades. There's not going to be much wiggle room.
I'm starting to lean towards the following:
- if there's even a passable trade for Hellebuyck out there, it needs to be taken. We know that when the first wave of the UFA rush subsides, there's virtually no cap space left anywhere, and Hellebuyck is going to command a lot of it. Now would be an excellent opportunity to jump the queue, before we are left with 37 and no trade partners whatsoever.
- dump Pionk at first given opportunity. We're stuck with Schmidt, but Pionk could be an interesting piece for a team looking for offense from the blue line. Now that we're going to have Wheeler's buyout penalty on the books in 24-25, this just became more of a priority.
only thing is he wonders if the pld trade changes the minds of scheif/helle in staying, honestly doubt that would change there mind but I think if the market is weak for them and they don't think they are going to get good value on their next contracts that could be the reason they change their minds in staying
Duchene is still a productive player. 142 points over last 2 seasons. Very surprising they couldn’t move him with a little retention.
Do we take a flyer on Duchene?
yeah, highly doubt he is available, they need all the high end elc's they can get, idk why him not playing in the nhl in his d+1 even matters...Mercer I think is absolutely 0 chance. Nemec could happen if the Jets retain, he hasn't played on the Devils and the Devils have lots of D.
Woah. Duchene didn't have any value?
I think we are underselling Helle if we are retaining... I don't see any other goalie out there who gets them a cup - running it back with Vanecek seems like a huge mistake and Schmid is a huge gambleMercer I think is absolutely 0 chance. Helle at 6m is a bargain - I think a combo of him and Schmid gets NJD to the finals
