Dallas and Phoenix still have to deal with San Jose.
Phoenix has to play Anaheim
Minnesota and Detroit still have to visit Los Angeles.

Team|Monday|Tuesday|Wednesday|Thursday|Friday|Saturday
Minnesota ||vs. Los Angeles|||vs. Edmonton|at Colorado
Columbus ||||at Dallas||vs. Nashville
Detroit |vs. Phoenix||vs. Los Angeles|vs. Nashville||at Dallas
Dallas ||at San Jose||vs. Columbus||vs. Detroit
Phoenix |at Detroit||vs. San Jose||vs. Colorado|at Anaheim

Here's a handy little table. If absolutely everything went right, the earliest the team could clinch would be Thursday. But it'll almost certainly come down to Saturday.

If the Kings can win out, that would be a huge boost for the Jackets. They have to be your 2nd favorite team from here on out.

I'm flying down to Austin Friday to see the Black Crowes on Saturday night. I'm not bummed about it....but I would LOVE to be at Nationwide if it came down to Saturday.

I'm trying to think of this in terms of "magic number". The number of points the CBJ get and/or the opposition loses until we eliminate them.

Detroit - 6 points (if we win out, DET needs to drop 2 points)
Dallas - 4 points
Phoenix - 3 points.

Is that right?

Nice way to put it. Definitely a more complex way of putting it rather than MLB's magic number.

For me, I've broken it down into 2 steps:
1. Win out.
2. Detroit needs 1 L or 2 OTL.

Puck Daddy on Yahoo has actually been doing a daily "elimination" number. It's a decent review each day.

We can count numbers and everything til our eyes bleed and we have heart attacks from worrying, but the boys won't be able to do anything it until Thursday. I'm just going to sit back til then and hope everything goes well in the few days until then.

I really should be focusing on school anyway. :laugh:

I'm over Jeff Carter until we meet them in the playoffs. Until then I only care about LA when they can help us. Ultimately I would like to thank Carter for starting the ball rolling that ultimately allowed us to draft Murray, get rid of Arniel, get JMFJ, and opened the door to the Nash trade.

All in all, he's a punk but he's not worth the time to get all worked up about or even acknowledge his existence. I'm happy, he's happy. I vote we just ignore he ever existed.

5 points is our "magic number" to clinch at least the 8th spot (or I think that's what it means in the x column). If DET loses in regulation and loses in OT in their next two games, and we take care of Nashville, we clinch.

here is the link to where I found this

I'll be happy to do that once folks stop forming impressions of Columbus based on his ******* behavior.

Happily, we seem to be headed in that direction of late.

Who gives a flying crap what everyone thinks about Columbus? The players that come here never want to leave for the most part. As a society, no as a species, we have to quit worrying about what people think of us.

Sorry, there is a guy at work that is annoying me to no end. I'm meet some of the dumbest people that are supposed to be technical and I'm NOT a help desk. Oh, I am so fired up.

Ok rant over, but point still stands. I don't care what impression Carter might give to sheep. If they are dumb enough to judge Columbus on that tool, they don't deserve my time to acknowledge they exist.

I do, obviously. :D

I like to talk with others and it's nice to have fewer dumbass misperceptions to correct. :nod:

I'm all booked now on immolations, alas, but I also offer very reasonable rates for alibis and sworn statements.

Fair enough. I still tend to try to educate people now and again. I'm quixotic like that. ;)

Is it a jinx to make a GDT for today for the Phoenix "Blue Jackets" against the Detroit Red Wings since most of us will be watching that anyways?

Melrose picks Wings to do it.

However, I doubt they win out. They would need four wins in 6 nights and have been fairly mediocre at home with 10 wins and 11 losses (including 4 OT losses). I would expect them to get about 5 of available 8 points.

I agree....however it seems everyone on here (including me) is just assuming we will win out. Playing Dallas will be a war and can go either way. Getting a point there would be huge, hopefully the Sharks can dust Dallas prior.
