Are you sure about that? Reaves Klingberg and Domi are nearly $9m that could’ve been used in much better ways to bolster the line up. Heck, add kampf’s $2.5m to the tally of poorly spent funds.
Firing a productive, useful and cheaper player who fills a utility like Lafferty into the sun to keep a plug like Reaves is just a prime example of what Jonas (and many others capable of seeing the big picture) are pointing out.

There’s too many guys who don’t do the things this team needs them to do at a high enough level. There’s a group here who always bellyached that previous iterations of the team were lacking in certain qualities and while that might be true, there wasn’t a lot of lacking in utility and usefulness. Also the previous regime was pretty quick to paper over a mistake at a minimal loss, which is probably why a lot of us were all expecting/hoping Reaves to be buried by now but alas he still exists on this roster for whatever reason.

Dubas- successful sports manager
Jonas- successful columnist and podcaster
Mirtle- highly successful news editor
How about you?
Dubas- nepotism hire
Jonas- columnist and podcaster
Mirtle- news editor

Me- I’m doing just fine. I went out to Subway for lunch and paid in cash

Nepotism hire? Hilarious stuff. Not sure you realize the athletic was purchase by NYT and made guys like Mirtle silly rich. Jonas has been writing and covering the team nearly 20 years in a professional manner which is a lot longer than most people hang onto a coveted role.
Subway still offering $5 footlongs?

Yeah, how do you think Dubas got his job at the Soo, than someone was dumb enough to hire him in the NHL.

I don’t care if Mirtle is filthy rich, doesn’t mean he is actually good at what he does, he’s a turd. Nicolas Cage made millions acting, very badly at that.

I don’t go for the cheap footlongs, sometimes I even get a combo with a bottled drink

I'm certain that Mirtle is not "silly" rich.

I've enjoyed the Mirtle/Siegel types over the years cause they were refreshing from the Simmons and Feschuks of the world. Just trying to stir up shit with TMZ coverage. And just spouting opinions without proper analysis. I felt the Mirtle/Siegel types brought/bring in good analysis, even if sometimes they dive too deep into something that isn't really there.

The issue is Siegel of late has gone too deep/far that way and it's getting ridiculous. I think Mirtle does a good job of reeling him in if he goes off a bit.

What we need is a happy medium. Not a deep dive of charts as to why the 14th forward may be a gem, but also not constant doom and gloom because someone eats hot dogs or enjoys watching the Kardashians.

Mirtle, Siegel, Friedman. All peas in a pod. They provide nothing of value besides destabilizing clubs with rumors. Wish we still had pro athletes like Larry Bird that would treat these jock sniffers with the contempt they deserve. Spector in Edmonton is another one.

The same idiots that are getting wet dreams from all the doom and gloom surrounding this team were writing articles for hockey magazines in 2018 that proclaimed the Leafs a future dynasty. These people commit hubris with regularity and should be ignored.

Amazing that they can’t make money off NHL national broadcast rights in Canada. Nobody tell the main boards, they’ll want all our teams to move.

Off topic here but was thinking of how to change the dreaded sportsnet hockey programming, the whole thing needs to be torn apart. A person who I think may succeed in that host role is Tim Micallef.

For Leafs regional only or all their games?

Last nights panel was very weak, especially when compared to what TSN offers.

As there primary Hockey host, why not both?

He's entertaining, intellectual, knows the game well. Has hosted a successful show before and can deal with numerous personalities. He's old enough that he understands the old boys club and young enough to coddle the new generation

Where has he been anyway? When his show ended, it was said that he was gonna do something else within Sportsnet. I've only seen him a few times since.

He’d be a good choice.
