We destroyed them on Special teams in game 1. They adjusted their PP (entry specifically) for game 2 and won the special teams battle from game 2 on.

I agree that given the history, it would probably be best that McCauley not be used for the optics.
Why do you think the historical on ice impact is completely irrelevant in a discussion about how the referees will impact the the game?
There's a lot of things that can lead you to win a game despite referees impact. I'm sure Keefe took a fine calling the guy out just cause he was a salty loser though.
And you think it's just the optics as to why McCauley shouldn't be used? That seems close-minded.
I just find it odd how often we get this guy calling our games.

There's a very clear history between Keefe and Frost, and it's very obvious that potential history can effect how Wes Mcauley treats Keefe's teams. As I said before - is it seriously that difficult to just pick another ref to do Toronto games?

David Frost is Wes McCauley's brother in-law. Frost abused Keefe and others for years in Jr and even post Jr career.
Someone dug that up online which makes me feel great about the officiating we're going to get this series. There was no other choices available??

Lightning are playing their 3 best dmen on separate pairs to help prop up their 3 weaker D. There's an opportunity there to make them pay for that.

Of course there was but the NHL has never been worried about conflict of interests or abuse… just look back on the Blackhawks. Legit full on black eye for the whole league. They knew about everything and swept it under the rug
