If this pisses Engvall off and gets him hitting even more than he has been recently, I'm not 100% against it.
Has been recently? He’s got 2 hits in three games. Saying even more leads someone to think he’s been hitting presently and thats not the case.

It's funny how some were saying not two weeks ago that Engvall is useless. Although I have seen a few posts admitting they're now eating crow
He has played decent but I really think he is a non factor. End of the day our top 3 lines will win or lose games. Our 4th line isnt doing much.

Still dont think he is amazing like everyone thinks he is.

I can see Boyd sticking
Engvall, while I don't agree with it, they need to make some decisions on a few guys

It will be a numbers game. I'm on the fence with Boyd. It doesn't seem improbable that he could stick though given his previous NHL experience. Engvall is getting close to losing his waiver exemption, for whatever that might be worth.

Surprised Engvall is out, he’s been a big source of secondary offense since drawing in
Keefe has a hate boner for Engvall and I have no clue why. Every time he's played well and the media asks about him he refuses to compliment him or even just flat out says he didn't think he was good.

Yeah that kind of happens when even your coach is calling you out. The guy is a decent player. Ignoring the coach’s wishes you play more physical isn’t the greatest idea for him. He doesn’t finish his checks. The coach asks you to and you get 2 in 3 games. He didn’t listen and he is out for Spezza who is going to take lots of important draws and win a large majority of them and start us with the puck more. He hasn’t been better than Spezza if that where anyone thinks they can go with this. Spezza is better.

Last year under Babcock:
53.5 cf% (2nd)
2.19 xGF/60 (19th)
2.3 xGA/60 (20th)
48.8 xGF% (21st)
10.2 hdcf/60 (19th)
10.9 hdca/60 (23rd)
48.3 hdcf% (23rd)

This year so far:
52.7 cf% (10th)
2.08 xGF/60 (19th)
2.2 xGA/60 (20th)
48.5 xGF% (18th)
9.73 hdcf/60 (17th)
10.7 hdca/60 (23rd)
47.7 hdcf% (21st)

Good record, but not a very inspiring performance overall. It could easily be a lot worse if things don't improve

He def. seems like he needs a kick in the arse now and then

Read on twitter that Engvall has like 5 more games to play and he then becomes eligible for waivers. With Robertson and Jumbo ready eventually they could run into problems.

Must be why they took him out. Save those games. Give other wingers like Barabanov a shot.

Spezza's faceoff stats his season are ridiculous at almost 66%, if that doesn't cool off I see him centering the 4th line.

These game scores always just seem so weird.

Like Rielly is really that much higher than Holl...?

Barrie over Muzzin and Holl???

They're based on 3yrs of data, so yeah a #1 like Rielly will outrank a guy like Holl who has only just started to get that kind of usage. Note that Holl's numbers are skyrocketing already - he's jumped from 0.47 all the way up to 1.06 already, which is due not just to his great play but also to more projected usage as there were doubts he would even stay in the lineup at the start of the year....and of course its easy for his grade to change quickly because he doesn't have a huge sample of games before this year.

They also reward pure points and PP points, so some guys get additional value even if it seems unfair.

Barrie is a guy who has been elite offensively for a long while so he looks pretty good - and as importantly is also projected as getting huge minutes on a top PP unit in Edmonton, which ups his projected value considerably.

That being said, no number is perfect and Barrie could be one of those perfect examples of a guy who falls through the cracks and gets a distorted rating for these kinds of specific reasons.

if Engvall being out is the difference maker in tonight's game, we have far bigger issues. I agree with most, I was pleasantly surprised with his showings in his first 3 games, just given our depth I feel like its not a big of a deal to have him sit here and there. He is by no means a regular in this lineup to me. Same for Barabanov, Boyd and Anderson for that matter. Healthy rotation will be good, keep legs fresh, keep players motivated. I think we sometimes forget how boring these games must be for the players now. Literally playing the same 6 opponents on repeat, no fans, nothing to do on your days off. Injecting new life in the lineup this year I think is a good thing. keeps people engaged and hungry. Also, I think Spezz coming in is probably for his face off ability. Especially important to start with the puck on the PK with all of Edmonton's weapons.

Keefer is pushing him and likely motivating him by making sure he knows nothing is a given. He will be better with some edge to his game the way he can get on the puck. He can’t be not doung what the man asks for ha. I don’t mind him one bit. He has to start picking it up physically or someone will take his icetime.

If it's based on 3 years, I like it even less. Some of those players have changed so much in 3 seasons.

is a man. Egnvall is. Some coaches do not like if there's a more confident looking real man beside them. Therefore some suckas is being left out. Too bad engvall is even harder than some will ever be. He don't take dirt from nobody. How hard is that.

It's based on (weighted) 3yrs for good reason - because its the most reliable indicator.

If you want numbers based on just the first 8gms of this year, they're out there, but you'll find that they have many more "weird" results.

Engvall being sat is shocking honestly. If the 4th line doesn't play well Keefe will deservedly get criticized.

I get its awkward sitting Barabanov after he came over from the KHL but points are too important, he hasn't shown anything. And they don't seem to mind sitting Lehtonen a lot.

I would really like to see Morgs activate hard tonight. He can skate circles around this Edmonton defense if he’s paying attention. Keefe should, activate him and tell brodes to hang back for him and the forwards to make sure they are picking up his spot. Rielly hasn’t taken pucks right to the net yet to this point. Good time to start against this defense

Delete, quoted myself instead of edit :)

Edmonton will want to get McDavid away from Holl/Muzzy. Lets Rielly go tonight when he’s against McDavid. Brodes can hang back and the forwards can pick up Morgs spot.
