GDT: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Buffalo Sabres Preseason Game #3

I've really liked Holmberg, Robertson, Timmins and Minten tonight from the younger players. Minten in particular has been hitting and involved in a lot of plays. Knies as been OK and Cowan has been a lot more quiet but fine otherwise. From the vets, Domi has been playing really good and Gregor is standing out a lot. McCabe and Liljegren were good as expected.

I will say Martin Jones has been solid. A very viable 3rd stringer.

Maybe there is room for both Timmins and Klingberg. If they really wanted more offense from our D, then we would have Rielly, Klingberg, and Timmins on different pairings. They can all make plays and get the puck to the net or into the hands of our forwards in dangerous areas.

I got bashed for suggesting these pairings cause Brodie was on the third pair when I mentioned all three would have equal minutes or you ride the hot pairing but I think these would do really well,

Rielly - Liljegren
McCabe - Klingberg
Brodie - Timmins

For us to sign Gregor he needs to go through waivers 1st

No he doesn't since the season hasn't started, andd we wouldn't be sending him down.

No one ever worried about having 2x 6’3” RHD who can generate offense on the same team. We’re fine with Klingberg and Timmins. They will be useful at different times and if Timmins can establish himself it will make a big difference come spring time.

If you have Liljegren, Klingberg and Timmins in those are basically the only pairings you can really have that make somewhat sense. You won’t see one of those playing their off side.

He'll need to be this good early in the season with London to be a "lock". Him and Minten have strong chances to make it if they play this good. It's a tough team to make but without Bedard and Fantilli, there are spots open.

Kinda thinking if we could upgrade on Brodie at some point that will give us a new look on the blueline. It’s gotta be a top 4 upgrade like when Edmonton got Ekholm.

Knies looks a lot more engaged and impactful defensively. He's made several good plays without the puck
