Don’t let Timmins fall off this team and into the lap of another for free. Production from the back end is so important

I think Timmins has always been safe, people just voted him off Cap Survivor cause he was on the shelf for so long last year. He doesn't make a lot of money and has always had unique offensive upside in a pro frame.

Knies, good detail
Mitten, showed his IQ
Timmins, all world must find a way to keep around
Robertson, very impactful, finishing wasn't good though
Lafferty, very strong
Gregor, making a case
Holmberg, stronger as game went on
Clifford, why
Steeves, embarrassing no show again for a guy supposed trying to make an impact
Tavares, he isn't faster, just moving tonight
McCabe, very rusty
Lil, rusty
Jones, fine wasn't really tested
Cowan, all alone on his line, made some plays

I like the idea of a Knies - JT - Robertson third line. Lots of speed, JT provides the veteran leadership and net front presence, Knies and Robertson are both puck hounds with plenty of skill.
If the plan is to keep Nylander at Center, Robertson can endear himself if he can adjust to play RW.

The problem is being a left hand shot on your off wing is hard, and we already saw several instances tonight when Robertson couldn’t handle the puck cleanly on his off wing.

Oh yeah……….. TIMMINS!!!!

Timmins has been better than Lilly this pre-season but you keep as many good RHD as you can or you're eventually having to trade for one.

Who I Liked:
  • Noah Gregor - He's certainly quick, he's someone i see being a good fit on line 4
  • Conor Timmins - Best player on the ice.
  • Pontus Holmberg - He's rapid, one of the fastest players out there. Good 3c potential.
  • Matthew Knies - Looked much better today. Definite NHLer
  • Nick Robertson - Looked good again.
  • Easton Cowan - Still raw, but he's gonna be good danm player. I expect a huge OHL season.
  • Sam Lafferty - Played like he wants to be here. Liked the effort and urgency tonight.

Who was not great
  • Timothy Liljegren - Felt he was really rusty. Poor passes.
  • Kyle Clifford - Love the guy, but he's done like dinner.
  • Alex Steeves - Not very impactful .

Other Thoughts
  • Tavares looked quicker.
  • Hirvonen could dance, had some nice bursts. He's deceptively quick.
  • Minten was good on the forecheck, his stride is a concern to me though. I still see a good 3c.
  • Lagesson seems like a fine call-up.
  • Jones is steady in goal.

No one ever worried about having 2x 6’3” RHD who can generate offense on the same team. We’re fine with Klingberg and Timmins. They will be useful at different times and if Timmins can establish himself it will make a big difference come spring time.
I feel like we have to worry more about Klingberg than Timmins, was a bad signing then and it'll look worse in a couple of months.

Reaves can be kept in the locker room and travel with the team but shouldn't be the regular on the 4th. Would love to see Holmberg on the 4th or even Lafferty
