GDT: Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators - 7PM - SN/CBC/TVAS - The Mindset, Dedication and Commitment Edition ™

Still can’t believe Ron MacLean went into immediate damage control mode for Rielly post game….”Just look how much his teammates love him, here’s Brodie saying his name on the ice”. And then SN shows a clip of them communicating on the ice. Like what even the frig did that have to do with ANYTHING? I think Bieksa then even laughed at that when they cut away and said maybe you’ll get the suspension reduced a couple. Turns out Hrudey was the only analyst in touch with the incident saying 5 or 6 games and the other three dismissed his take immediately and laughed it off.
You are so right. The Leafs homerism is blatant, overt, they don't even try to be subtle any more. In this case I have to say that it is also rather sad and pathetic!

From here on, whenever that panel (and friends) dares to lecture us all about player safety and acceptable play, just recall this incident to understand their total hypocrisy. You would do well to mentally add the words "... unless it's a Leaf!" to any statement they offer.

Many teams in many sports have a "regional" broadcast, broadcasts clearly dedicated to a particular team and in some cases paid for by same. Observing 'homerism' in that case is not an issue (IMO). Particularly galling though is when TSN/SN purporting to be NATIONAL broadcasts serving all Canadians so clearly root for and call games from the perspective of one (blue) team. Everything is seen through dark blue tinted glasses, even when playing other Canadian teams. Unfortunately Leafs fans and Leaf-loving media just cannot see it, or worse they pretend they can't. At times this make watching NHL games and sports reporting difficult to endure. My measure of sports broadcast professionalism is how well the game can be called without clear favourtism and focus on one team, obvious bias.
I don't lump TSN in with Sportsnet, I find TSN more balanced IMO. Look at the comments Craig Button has made on X calling it a cheap shot and saying it was similar to Perron's hit on Zub. Also, TSN doesn't broadcast any Leafs games but they broadcast the majority of Sens games.

It just goes to show that the Sportsnet network and panel "have no soul"!

Hrudey was also showing JM a lot of love during the breaks.

Hockey is treated like a 2nd rate sport in Canada by both TSN and Sportsnet.
While other broadcasters actually do go at times on location with their panel, Sportsnet chooses to go back to Toronto into a studio with zero atmosphere that doesn't exactly scream hockey plus they sit around a card table where all you see is the the profiles of two of them.

CFL football is treated better by TSN.

In one glorious clapper into an empty net, Greig managed to show the SN panel for what they are, reignite the battle of Ontario, P off the Leafs and fans and in an otherwise disappointing season, likely helped with ticket sales down the stretch and season tickets for next year.

I take it she blocked you for calling her a hypocrite?
No I don't engage in anything on X but I've read quite a few posts from users who she has blocked

If you're referring to the tweet I posted on this forum while calling her a hypocrite that wasn't my tweet but it did display her giant hypocrisy

Man, i wish we played them again this year.

How f***ing funny would it be if the stars aligned and greig did the exact same thing again?

Actually maybe it should just be a new team tradition going forward. All our empty net goals against the leafs are gonna be vicious slappers now.

That would be f***ing hilarious.

Some Leafs fans are saying this is a turning point for the "Corpse Four" because it will make them all tough 'n stuff for the playoffs.

I remain unconvinced.
