The Leafs are going to get better. Every team in the league is going to have great stretches and stretches where they are only .500. Matthews is going to start scoring more. People panic too much at the start of the season.

Ferguson isn't signed to an NHL contract and can't be because of that non-important (according to @Divine) but nasty 50-contract limit...

He was only given a PTO and not an NHL contract, and the Leafs are at the 50 contract limit right now.

1B - Matt Murray
3A - Joseph Woll (injured)
3B - Erik Kallgren
5 - Dennis Hildeby (21 year old AHL rookie from SHL)

Matthews is also taller than McDavid, so clearly his ability to grow more means you can't say McDavid is superior overall.

Is it surprising to you? Most posts here seem to have predicted it. If it’s a poorly constructed team that HfBoards predicted to decline - it’s not surprising.

Well this isn't about the Avs but the Leafs. But as someone stated, they have proven it with a cup last season and they were able to get past the first round many times prior to. So yeah, we shouldn't talk about the Avs because they are winners. The Leafs continue to be first round chokers so their bad start isn't exactly helping things.
