Boston doesn't lose to bottom feeder teams, they take advantage of those and collect the points

The Leafs on the other hand have blown the majority of their games vs bottom feeders. A good 40 points have been squandered to these loser teams.

That's a difference between a winner team and a loser team
100%. A serious team and a country club team

For whatever it's worth, this may have been the most Carolina's been outplayed in a game this season. It's their 2nd worst game by CF% and worst game by xGF%. They're a really tough opponent that normally crushes teams with their work ethic and pressure all over the ice, but the Leafs played really well

That’s the frustrating part is that the Leafs played their best and still lost

I think you can pretty much look at the make-up of the team.

Keefe's propensity to fall back on veterans may have sealed his fate.

It doesn't matter, the Leafs can't close a game. They blew it last week against Ottawa as well and countless times earlier in the season. I'd guess that close to 1/4 of the season has been blown to loser teams where they should have cashed in the points but there's a loafting/lazy attitude that shows up a lot and they decide to mail in those games and forfeit those points. Which is why we're what, 22 points behind the first place team. With all the talent on this team that shouldn't be happening, so it comes down to attitudes, not talent. What are the attitudes on this team is the question.

There's no killer instinct. They look spectacular and abysmal at the same time.

When's the last time anyone ever thought 'yeah, tonight is a for-sure win'... ?

Can't remember. Because all of us know damn well that when we play the sh*ttiest team in the league we have as good a chance at losing it as we do winning it

Keefe, play to get the game to overtime. If you put struggling defensemen loose cannon Bunting something bad is going to happen. What would have been the harm in putting your checking line or 3rd line?

We even started the game being outshot 12-4 in the first half of the first period. So from then on we completely dominated.

yeah this is another thing everyone has overlooked

this team has no goalie... period.

How does a team win a cup with no goalie.. again anything is possible but which of our goalies have stolen a game for us this season? Can't remember even one game. Both goalies are sub-par, no denying it

right now it's not which goalie gives us the best chance of winning, it's which goalie will do the least damage?

This team played a great game, playoff intensity, really should have won.

BUT

Lily and Rielly on the ice in the last two minutes cannot be allowed. Easy clear by Liljgren on the winning goal and he couldn’t do it. Rielly just stinks defensively.

AND

Murray cost us this game. On the third goal he moved across, stopped the puck on the post, but then moved his foot off the post. A goalie is supposed to remain still on those type of plays. How many wraparounds did Kovetchcov save? Another four goals against. You expect us to always score 5 to win a game?

This should’ve been a massive prep game utter failure

Dude you wrote all this to say you’re just a

Sorry but all you dudes singing positives over yet another easy win are the exact curse

Team finds a way to lose and we got fake fans acting like it’s a good thing

Ever since McDavid got 60 goals in one game fewer than Auston, he’s been absolutely lights out since. It’s like that pushed him into next gear.
Which just adds more credence to the question of 'Does Matthews play for himself?' imho

Rielly is really pissing me off. That's our supposed #1 D-man?
My only hope is he somehow turns it on in the playoffs. It seems his offence is starting to come back, desperately need him to step up his defensive game

We can’t afford to shelter him like a Tyson Barrie

Dude, you don’t think we should have won that game? Shot disparity, scoring attempt disparity was not even close. Their goalie was better than ours. Try watching the game with an unbiased view dude.

This game also mimicked playoff Leafs in that they just couldn’t complete a comeback. Often getting just close enough to give you hope only to blow it at the end. Thrice against Montreal they failed to complete the comeback, and only managed to come back against Tampa once last playoffs and failed to complete comebacks in Games 6 and 7 when doing so would’ve seen them move on.

Matt Murray is the leafs in a nutshell, a mentally weak fragile goalie with no killer instinct.
this is the truth, they aren't going anywhere with this guy

how much does he even care.. his media interviews aren't exactly encouraging either.. cash that pay cheque kinda guy maybe

which leaves us with Samsinov... the lesser of the two evils perhaps?

I agree with lots that has been posted.

Rielly is not best used in defensive situations because he is always joining the rush or starting transitioning when we haven’t secured the puck in our end. He also gets sharked for not stopping 2 on 1s. Offensively he lacks a clapper and can’t get pucks through to the net.

Overall still a useful player. However, as said, Keefe is square pegging him because of his contract. His contract will become an anchor in a 3-5 years

The sooner Keefe can recognize there’s times to utilize Reilly and times you have to leash him . We will be better.

This season Reilly is 4th pair sheltered unit.
Let’s call a spade a spade.

Dubas improved the team at the trade deadline but. This team will go as far as goaltenders take it. None of the acquisitions can play goal. I personally think Woll is our best option

Okay, off call now, time to drown the memories of another lost opportunity.

It really looks like this Leafs team is about 1 player away from being up there with the Bruins.

Just don't know if Woll/Hildeby/Peksa/Akhtyamov are that player.

We were spoiled weren't we Joseph, Belfour.

Leafs actually had Bernie Parent, and Jacque Plante one year.

JT?

Thé complète D collapse has the familiar air of the past few playoffs especially Colombus and Montreal.

This is on the coach.

Keefe can’t get his players to respect him and play.

Not when he’s putting Reilly as a number 1 D.
The whole team can see he soft on the blue line and let’s everyone walk-in.

Jesus Christ Keefe, do you need s coach on how to coach a team to hold a lead ffs.
