Every fanbase seems to complain about their "better" Dmen the same way I guess. So I understand that's a thing.

I just feel like Rielly is pretty solid, good contract, longest serving Leafs player I'm fairly confindent without looking it up. Maybe should have been the captain IMO, and I just think it's unfair to shit on the guy like he's Cody Franson or something.
I don't think Rielly is a horrible Dman, but he definitely shouldn't be your first choice to put on the ice to defend a 1 goal lead with a couple minutes left in the game. The thing is the Leafs are playing him like he should be on the ice defending a 1 goal lead with a couple of minutes left by giving him so many minutes whether its justified or not.

I've said it before that I like Rielly and I WANT him to succeed, but by now we have to accept the player that he is and adjust accordingly which is less ice time. The Leafs are playing very well this season and are putting up a good amount of goals which is why its mind boggling that Rielly can STILL be a minus player on this team. How is that even possible unless you're playing pretty poor defense and it indicates that you should be playing less and/or not be playing against the opposing team's better players?

Also Rielly on his old contract, you can more easily live with the weaknesses in his game. Rielly with his new contract not so much.

Missed most of the game. Late goals against always suck.

Sounds like Rielly had another tough game?

Goal expected against tonight 2.23
Goal expected for 6.3

Vs florida
Goal expected against 2.67
Goal expected for 4.27

Leafs would play the same way 20 game and they would win 19 of those 20... but for a reason tonight leafs paid for every mistake they did in that game... but in reality this game is one of 3-4 best game leafs played all year long... nothing tonworry about it
The thing that doesn't make sense is how can Rielly who is playing on a very good Leafs team and who is putting up a decent amount of points himself can STILL be a minus player on this team? How is that possible unless you're playing pretty poor defensively and should be getting less ice time and/or not playing against other team's better players?

I'm not putting all the blame on Rielly because he's just one player, but at the same time alot of bad things seem to happen defensively when he's on the ice and its happening far too often to call it a coincidence. This isn't much different than what's been going on his entire career.

Look at Barrie when he was with the Oilers and was putting up some good offensive numbers. Ask yourself would you want him playing big minutes in a 7 game series in the playoffs compared to the Oilers going out and getting Ekholm to replace him? Who would you rather have on your team in the playoffs?

That was a very good game. Match that performance and we’d win most of them. Playoff feel and the boys kept their foot in it. I liked it.

Not sure who we’re blaming tonight. Has to be somebody to satisfy the small picture crowd.

What the f*** was that line change?

Keefe, put your shit down line out there. Not the struggling Tavares line. Not the defensively challenged Bunting.

That game could have been won if only TOR had better coach.

How about Bunting on the Aho goal though.

Rielly fully tells him Aho is coming, and Bunting says whatever and doesn't stay with Aho. Next thing you know it's game over.

Replay doesn't lie. Check it for yourself.

Okay, off call now, time to drown the memories of another lost opportunity.

It really looks like this Leafs team is about 1 player away from being up there with the Bruins.

Just don't know if Woll/Hildeby/Peksa/Akhtyamov are that player.

We were spoiled weren't we Joseph, Belfour.

Leafs actually had Bernie Parent, and Jacque Plante one year.

Murray has to sit on the bench in the playoffs and be traded in the summer
yup

losing to Carolina is 100% on Murray’s shoulders. The leafs should have easily won this game. Murray’s sub par Skillset strikes again.

Yup.

Nylander with the first back check on Aho to help the puck go wide. Aho does a little disappear act but Rielly doesn't fall for it. Points out to Bunting that Aho is trying a sneak attack, cover him.

Long story short Bunting sucks at covering people

Nonetheless, brutal rebound by Murray

1- you can remove all 9 empty net goal, and he became at +5, 4 goal against in pp against... hes now at +9 at 5v5 same as brodie...

2- yes rielly taking risk because its whats leafs want from rielly and sometime yes that will cost a goal or whatever but most of the time, he will make great thing

if i wanted leafs to lose i wouldn't be there in the gdts cheering the team on every freakin' game.

and wouldn't lose my shit when teh team loses if i want them to lose

are you a dubas fan? serious question i want to understand on what basis are you typing your posts?
I don’t like or dislike any management anymore. Including dubas. But after the playoffs I will.

Last years loss to TB was a breaking point for me. I had to think about it all summer. How do I deal with this? And I eventually came to the conclusion that I’m not gonna let the regular season get me fired up. Either way. I told myself, as long as they make the playoffs I don’t care…until the playoffs.

I think they have more than enough to be a successful team. Especially if success has become winning a first round series lol

So I’m not gonna let my thoughts on any leafs from shanny all the way down to the 13th fwd, 7th d or 3rd goalie get the best of me when the outcome really doesn’t matter. I want them to win. I like when they play well. But I don’t give half a shit about what they do in these 82 games when I’m thinking about the big picture.

Why get bent out of shape now? I’m sure we all have enough passion to show, good or bad, when the playoffs are here.

Yeah it's tough to be mad at this one. We actually outshot a team for the first game in a long time, and by a significant margin. The play of Matthews alone was enough for me to be satisfied.

You mean the Bruins that are 22 points ahead of us? We aren’t even close to that team

I agree with lots that has been posted.

Rielly is not best used in defensive situations because he is always joining the rush or starting transitioning when we haven’t secured the puck in our end. He also gets sharked for not stopping 2 on 1s. Offensively he lacks a clapper and can’t get pucks through to the net.

Overall still a useful player. However, as said, Keefe is square pegging him because of his contract. His contract will become an anchor in a 3-5 years

Boston doesn't lose to bottom feeder teams, they take advantage of those and collect the points

The Leafs on the other hand have blown the majority of their games vs bottom feeders. A good 35-40 points have been squandered to these loser teams this season.

That's a difference between a winner team and a loser team
