I think it depends on who they play in the first round. If it's the Caps I don't think they should even bother bringing on McAvoy.

I think it doesn't matter, No Krug/Carlo + Anemic offense if you exclude the first line. Bringing McAvoy would be a mistake and a terrible assets management. Bruins not contending this year; burning 1 year of McAvoy is not worthed.

I would agree. We could win a round or two this year but there's just as good a chance we're bounced round one. Playing him could wreck his confidence... Throwing him to the wolves and burning a year of his ELC which is huge since we have so many people locked up for big money for 3-4 years... Maybe they bring up Grzelcyk and give him sheltered minutes.

McAvoy/JFK will be far more effective with a year under their belt then now. Their impact might also be more significant for the team and if you add a 2nd year for Carlo, well... our chances to perform will be better. Patience is key.

Agreed. I think this is the worst this team is going to be for a few years now. We have so much up and coming talent and have the assets to trade for some pieces this offseason to fill up our holes.

I like to have confidence, but even if we win this round and even the one after that, the return on playing McAvoy is just way too little. What if he's not ready and he's benched game 2? Too much risk for too little chance of a reward. Krug is a massive loss, McAvoy couldn't come close to replacing him anyway. Just gotta hope he's healthy by midway of the series.

The team might get better over the next few seasons, but so will Tampa, Florida, Toronto and perhaps MTL under Julien. The team might be better, but the playoff position is far from guaranteed.

It never is, and I never said it was. But if we improve we're way more likely to make the playoffs. We also have elite proven talent to go along with our prospects. That's something that no other team in the East besides Pittsburgh has. I guess Tampa, since they've been to the SCF once and the ECF twice.

Pretty bad when the Bruins are saying Krug is closer to returning than Carlo. It's good that Krug could come back but Carlo's injury is a lot worse than I thought.

Ovie doesn't even get a fine for that- spear a guy in the sack and he comes back in the same game, gets your two games off.

I think the Bruins should be very cautious with Carlo, young player, not worth the risk to rush him back if it's a head injury.

If he's cleared to play, he plays. So many qualified doctors evaluate these guys over many times before the HF Boards Doctors get a chance to examine them and make judgements. I don't put the value of a players head more if he is younger than another player. Treat them all equally and have the doctors who are paid millions make the decisions for the players, not the coaches, GM's or fans.

This is really the only way to go about it.

Given what we've heard/seen, this is exactly what I imagined.

Carlo obviously was concussed. Seems pretty normal now that an initial concussion puts you out a week or more. I get Ovechkin didn't mean to hurt Carlo, but he initiated the contact (hook) that caused Carlo to become vulnerable and then he followed through on the hit...even if he 'let up' a little bit. It's pretty frustrating that there's not even a fine, even if that doesn't mean much of anything anyways.

A call on the ice would have been nice.

A lot of other teams have a ton of talent coming up through the ranks as well. We tend to lose sight of that I think, as we're watching our own youth on the rise.

Of course they do- Leafs come to mind right off, but it sets us up to have some nice battles in the upper tiers of the league in the years to come. There will always be great teams to contend with, but at least we have some hope that we will be one of them :)

Grzelcyk is a top pairing defenceman

Sometimes you don't know what you have until it's gone. IMO he's the best defenceman on this team and him not being there is solidifying this for me. The D - aside from McAvoy - can't do anything with the puck when he's gone. Excited to see full season of McAvoy and Krug in the starting lineup though.
