Toronto has managed to seal a deal that makes the Jeff Finger contract look reasonable by comparison.
Ah yes, use extremely outliers to promote why Raddysh is for sure going to be amazingDid it worry Bruins fans with Tim Thomas?
Is the fact he wasn’t an even NHL regular until 27 something that worries you?
Very prophetic, you know your stuff. He doesn’t get more than 8.5M a year.
Calling it right now.
Plenty as in how many? Not really.
Plenty of late bloomers in the NHL. Not saying Raddysh will turn out this way but; Giordano wasn’t an NHL regular until he was like 25 and now he has a borderline HOF case.
Well, how often do TB players leave and maintain their level
Easy. I’m a STM that attends virtually every game. He’s a slow 4-6 defenseman with a booming shot. If you can limit his minutes 5 on 5 and have him play on the pp, he’s fine. He has always been a 5-7 guy until this season when injuries forced him into the lineup and, he was outstanding offensively and was protected by Moser on defense.Anyone have any idea as to why lighting fans, whose team is similar trying to stretch a competitive window, are almost unanimously pleased that he wasn’t resigned for this contract?
Raddysh could be one of those extreme outliers. Why not wait and see how it plays out?Ah yes, use extremely outliers to promote why Raddysh is for sure going to be amazing
The Bruins also waited 3 seasons of him being a NHL starting goalie and winning a Vezina before getting a 4 x $5m contract
That’s remotely similar to an 8 year one?

Most UFA contracts do. Leafs had to acquire a puck moving RHD who can lead a PP and they weren't going to rebuild, this is the best they could have done tbh. This is guaranteed to end terribly
I’ll take that bet. Loser allows the winner to pick their new username, have to keep it for the offseason
I'm 100% in that same boat with you with defending the Leafs.I'm typically the last one to defend the Habs, but all things considered I'd much rather have Dobson, even factoring in the cost of acquisition, and its not particularly close.
Raddysh has one season where he was good/great. Dobson has a whole career of it. And Montreal didnt need to give up anyone of significant value to get the trade done
Stammer's numbers are very little misleading.Sergachev seems to be doing just fine. Stamkos just scored 40 he seems fine too.
It's a good contract but the wrong team. This is Toronto saying "well, we don't have our firsts the next two years so may as well see what kind of noise we can make". It doesn't make them a better team and even if he does put up similar numbers he did this year (big if), too much still has to go right for Toronto to be at least in the wildcard picture. Why were they on the cusp of trading Knies last year for futures if they weren't looking at something of a teardown? I think lucking into a top 5 finish and then 1OA sort of forced them to change course since they probably thought they were going to lose their first this year.
Being better than the mess last year isn't a justification because being better doesn't make you a credible contender and the chances that contract ages well is slim.
Seems like a fair assesment, thanks.Easy. I’m a STM that attends virtually every game. He’s a slow 4-6 defenseman with a booming shot. I’m pleased for him that he hit a big payday as he’s got a great personality and is willing to accept his role.
But my fear is that with his contract that Leaf fans are going to expect Raddysh to be in the top 4. He’s not that player.
So in other words fix 90% of the Leafs game from last year.
Sounds simple.
It wouldn't be surprising if it starts, continues and end terribly. This is guaranteed to end terribly
You hired Jim Hiller not Scotty Bowman.Indeed. System changes will fix most of the 5v5 issues. PP will be fixed with Raddysh and McKenna

You might be right, but I’m thinking you’re not. Leafs are trying to keep something they never really had. Last summer some of us here suggested losing Marner will really hurt the Leafs. IMO getting Radixh isn’t going to help them much.Indeed. System changes will fix most of the 5v5 issues. PP will be fixed with Raddysh and McKenna
