I love when other teams fans try to tell Leafs fans about their players.

Benoit played a somewhat respectable bottom pairing game in the 2024-2025 season but this past year he was straight up unplayable for the majority of the year.

Next year we will not have to play Benoit or meyers on the back end

That is a huge improvement.

I also hope we keep Reilly and play him down in the lineup

“If” is doing a lot of work in this sentence

And a lot of you are ignoring they still have a ton of quality pieces in their prime years and have been a strong 5v5 team forever until Berube showed up (even with Marner the stats tanked).

But we will see. This will be a good thread to bring up next Christmas

Y'know, if they hadn't won the lottery, I would have been worried that they were missing an elite-level playmaker to set him up for those massive slappers. I see the vision from Chayka and I can't bring myself to hate it. There wasn't gonna be another opportunity like this from the free agency to potentially acquire a QB for PP1; even if he comes crashing down to earth it's probably worth the risk. Can't be much worse than their previous approach of Rielly/5th forward

I haven’t seen you this excited since they hired Keefe and Berube!

What can I say. 1st OA pick, top RD available for basically free, A smart front office that has a plan and is executing it.

I like whats happening. I expect we see at least 1 more piece changed on D and something at forward before the offseason is done.

Is this a good time to bring up your ‘losing Marner will be ‘addition by subtraction’ opinion?

Marner is old news. You already know the point was who cares if Marner is good if you can't count on him in the biggest games and nothing has changed. You are better off planning around not having him and using the cap space which Treliving did a terrible job of.

Chayka is getting there.

I give it til Christmas until your crapping on the coach and ‘smart front office’ just like you did on every other hire.

stupid leafs, guys going to revert to what he was prior to this past season with TB. I hate to be a downer but I can't see this working out. 8 years..... guys a bum and he will be public enemy #1 by December/January

this is worse than the David Clarkson deal

What makes them a better team is Matthews staying healthy and getting competent goaltending. Without either this acquisition means nothing.
Well obviously things need to be better in some areas. But you need to fill the roster with some quality to get that done. Raddysh helps with that.

I was waiting for your take because I knew it would be bad, just didn’t think it would be this bad

TBL could've afford him at this. Interesting that they passed on it. Must not think he's too important.
Tampa will miss him, but their top 4 are Hedman/Moser McDonagh/ Cernak. Raddysh would have been on the 3rd pair. Thats a lot of money for a 3rd pair guy.

Long term, they would have Moser on the left side with McDonagh on the 3rd pair. They are hoping D’Astous will play with Hedman.
