Have you seen the UFA market?

Tanev 37y, OEL 35y, so far one hit wondee Raddys in their top4, what a monster blueline let me tell you….

Also having Tavares as 2C may be okay for regular season but in the playoffs it’s certainly not an advantage
I don't recall calling it a "monster blueline". I simply said that it is a lot better than it was last season, which is straight facts. Tanev missed almost the whole season, and their idiot GM and coach polluted their bottom pairing with Phillippe Meyers and Simon Benoit because they're size queens. If you're so sure they're not making the playoffs let's make an avatar bet.

All kinds of ways to add to the defense....Leafs just showed you 2 different ways in 3 days............A better coach will help with that as well....

Maybe you should worry about your own team....

Leafs are low on assets and UFA market is boring

& if you add a legit top pair Dman it’s going to take Knies which brings you into situation where nobody could care less about the Leafs offense

Just admit they are desperate and trying to build a team that’s peak is a 1st round playoff team

How do you know it’s much better? Because again a massive part of your plan is trusting on a 37y who missed almost the whole season….

Then add OEL who is also starting to be at the end of his career

Give me raddysh over Andersson any day of the week. As long as it's not over 10m I don't see the issue.

Leafs are obviously not going to try and rebuild the next two seasons, so if your opinion does not take that into consideration then you're just being ignorant.

Hope McCabe-raddysh can recreate some of the moser-raddysh magic.

At the very least it's a body on the back end that can help move the puck up the ice. Something basically none of the leafs d could do last year.

Don't get the rush for the sign & trade - better be something insignificant.

At the cost of only money, it's minimal risk. When the player is bad, he likely goes on LTIR.

Going to miss Raddysh, but a long term deal for him was a deal breaker for Tampa. If he wanted a long term deal, he had to bring his AAV way down to mitigate risk of it being a one off year. I totally understand and commend his agent for sticking to their guns and capitalising on this year and trying to get max dollar. If this year wasn't an outlier, good move by Toronto.

last time there was a sign and trade it was Marner for Roy

I wonder since it's not a rights deal but a sign and trade if it's a guy like Jousha or Domi, or Lorentz

I suspect a roster player of some kind is involved since again it's not a pure rights deal.

I wonder what the contract is.

still need 1 more guy on defense

I know it's not the same point wise. This seems very similar to when the Leafs signed Jeff Finger to at the time a decently big deal for the time. Was a player who played well in Colorado's system looking like a good dman. Raddysh is a late bloomers similar to Finger. I think Raddysh was wildly successful because of the system and style of play the lightning play.

I don't know maybe I'm wrong it just has that feeling to it.

I mean, at least we'll have a clapper from the point on the PP
I honestly don't have the stats on this, but other than for transcending talents, isn't goal scoring for D-men extremely volatile? At least for non-rovers who score from the blue line.

I'm basing this thought partly on Jason Garrison's outlier year where he felt automatic from the blue line, scored 16 goals, and never came close to that mark again.

This is similar to when they signed a player that they thought was someone else. What?

Yeah, kinda like finger if you don't count goals, assists, points, shot playing style and focus on that they are both defenceman then yeah.
