He's not an offensive defensemen. He's a legit two way guy that provides high end positioning and stick work in the defensive end. He does not shy away from contact in regards to going in and retreiving pucks either. One of the better transitional defensemen in the game as well.

He's not a perfect player - as he makes the occasional boneheaded mistake, but that comes with playing heavy minutes against the opponents top lines.

TJ Brodie is a capable top pairing defender at even strength, but I would more so label him the perfect #3 defensemen.

Which fits perfectly with how the Leafs are built. Both in style of play and where he slots into the lineup.
Their number two is on the second pairing with a # 5 defenseman in Holl.

With all the poor owners struggling to hit the floor I'm sure Dubas can offload someone to a desperate team (like Detroit ;))

Detroit needs to spend 4 million to get to the floor which they will easily do by re-signing Bert and Mantha.

I will miss Brodie a lot. Not sure how the Flames are going to replace him.

Here is a bit of Trivia - Flames had like a 9-0 blowout loss to Boston one game years back. Brodie was even with a lot of ice time.

Brodie sucks this is a huge overpay. He’s going to be exposed again without Giordano.

Exactly and the funny thing is Gio and Rielly are similar players in terms of style.
Brodie is a very good fit for the Leafs.

Surely you can’t be serious  they couldn’t be more different really. Reilly’s slap shot is worse than my nonna’s, Giordano has a bomb, Giordano stands up for teammates, Rielly does not. Giordano hits, Rielly does not. Two completely different defensemen.

You bet. TJ is a great add for Toronto. I said straight up that Brodie would have been a better fit than Barrie back when Kadri nixed the deal last summer, and I stand by that today.

There's these things called trades

They are going to trade away 8 million to sign Pietrangelo, and enough to get under the cap and re-sign their RFAs. Have you been paying attention to what has gone on this week? Teams are concerned about the flat cap normal RFAs havent been qualified yet someone is goint to take all that salary from the Leafs? Yah again no.

He's the opposite of Brett Lebda!
