I’m very happy with our 28th pick last year ( kulich) who might now be the Sabres best prospect not in the nhl - this is a deeper draft and that pick is more valuable
If he Avs end up with the 28th pick this year I'd gladly trade it for Kulich

Great trade for the Leafs

There's a lot of anti-Leafs jealousy in this thread. I have every reason to hate them being a Canucks' fan, but this was a solid move and gives them absolutely ridiculous centre depth, and adding a Selke level player (albeit less effective offensively these days) as a 2/3C is a great move that has turned them, undoubtably, into a cup contender.

Not with that swiss cheese defense.

Not with that swiss cheese defense.
Team defense is more than just what's on your blue line. The Penguins, during their 2nd Crosby era cup run, had what appeared to be 'swiss cheese defense' on paper but they played great team defense. Adding a guy like O'Reilly; a vet who knows how to shut down opposition in the playoffs, in such an important position in the centre of the ice, is only going to have a net positive effect on team defense.

Not disagreeing but a McCabe or Gabrikov brings the element that our defence doesn't have. And your likely not taking Rielly, Brodie, Gio, Liljegren out. And since they love Holl and have Timmins as RD insurance for him, that leaves Sandin.
Gavrikov is a fair bit better than McCabe I recon and I think he can be potentially be obtained without dealing Sandin . Maybe I’m wrong

I love watching the Leafs lose as much as the next guy (I'm a messy bitch that loves drama etc etc) but pretending this is a bad trade for the Leafs makes us haters look silly. Leafs only gave up a late 1st basically. Thats well worth the return. Now will it work? Very likely it doesnt because thats just how this shit works. East is insane this year. Boston is the best team in the league and they could easily lose before the final. Toronto did fairly well here. Need to add a speedy gamebreaker though and probably would've been better served by going for Meier but this is a perfectly reasonable trade

I guess when the most excitement you've had in 7 years is a five-game winning streak that gives you a snowball's chance at a wildcard spot, it's more fun to laugh at other team's losses.
i lol'd.

anyone saying this is a bad trade for the leafs though is just showing how little they understand ..or just have hurt feelings.

Best trade the leafs have made past few years needed a true hockey guy with a missing tooth on the team

Tripled their toothless smiles in one trade. Also the new acquisitions casual outfits were nice to see.... Compared to the over the top sunglasses and top hats leafs "leaders" wear

Ror has a weak season. Still i like the trade for the leafs, its all in but they realized that 2way wins in the postseason, and ror is still very much able to play 200ft.

ROR was able to slow down the perfection line in the Stanley Cup Finals. Last year it was Mac for Colorado. He will raise his game again this year and really slow down Boston’s top line. Then it will come down to depth and goal tending.

This trade will really help Toronto. The team is much better now then it was prior to the Friday night. It will be interesting to see what Boston, Carolina, and Tampa Bay do now.
