TML paid the price. They got their guy. Dubas stepped up to the plate. He had to. Another first round exit and he’s probably gone. Give him credit for still getting it done though. This deal could springboard the Leafs deep into the playoffs. If not, likely the end of Dubas.

I think this is drastic but there is a contrarian case to be made about tsn and Sportsnet and how they’re both wrong about trades so often

I didn't like the Foligno trade when it happened and still think its Dubas' worst trade in his time as GM of the Leafs. I think this is a decent deal in that although they gave up alot for him ROR is a much better player and brings more to the Leafs than Foligno ever could. Well as long as he's healthy and is ready to go that is.

It's gonna be a hindsight move.

But at this point, f*** it. We have to be all in and Dubas has to be all in and watch and see and hope for the best.

Honestly a great part is the Leafs add an intense leader. Our leadership group isn't as intense (i mean our captain is John Tavares lol) and generally more laid back. Keefe himself has mentioned we get quiet sometimes on the bench

ROR hates to lose and makes it well known. He injects an element this team sorely needs

I quietly think Marner is the problem along with Keefe.

I don't see it without a Goalie coming in. Who is even out there that the Leafs could get? And I don't even mean a starter necessarily, but holy crap Dubas HAS to get some sort of NHL level goalie. Curious what other teams fans would be after in the Leafs situation, someone cheap-ish but dependable maybe.

as a neutral fan, I really think it makes TOR so much better. Great trade for the leafs. Accirai is likely worth something between 2nd and 3rd, so 1st + 3rd for ROR does not seem like such a steep price !

apparently Wild sends a prospect called Pillar to TOR (as per capfriendly) no idea who this guy is. But the name and the fact that him + retention brought a 4th seems exciting

If he stays healthy I like this trade for the Leafs. It gives them a lot of flexibility with either 3 quality Cs or they could play Tavares on the wing and have a crazy top 6.

I’m not sure there are any goalies out there that move the needle who could be acquired in a realistic trade. They probably just ride Samsonov and hope for the best.
