They pay 25% of his remaining salary.Just the space of $1,850,000. I don’t think the pay the salary

I mean he’s not even 0.5PPG and there are injury concerns from what I read above. I think he’ll be better than foligno but not miles better.
I could also see ROR on Matthews LW. Solves our biggest forward need in our top 6. My only worry about JT and ROR together is they really need to dominate the cycle since both aren't exactly fleet of foot.Yes. Could definitely see a ROR Tavares shutdown line in important minutes during the playoffs
That's what was said about Tavares, he p/pg, no complaints.Excited to see how quickly Leafs fans turn on ROR after they realize he can't skate anymore.
Now they just need to trade for Riley Nash and Mike Reilly. They just traded for Cal O'Reilly too.
Seems like a massive overpayment to me. It’s funny how the HF community values picks so much and Toronto just traded a first, second , third and a fourth, for a guy that is having a down year.
Yeah, Leafs can likely get him down to a more reasonable minutes threshold, unless needed during the playoffs. Likley won't be first team PP, and he won't be as heavily relied on for the PK.What injury concerns? He broke his foot blocking a shot. He played 23 minutes that game and has come back the past 3 games and looked fine.
If you want to look at ppg go ahead and look at what Folignos ppg were for years leading up to that trade. And then look at how ROR has contributed pretty much every year he’s played aside from this season where the whole team has been a mess.
They aren’t comparable players and should never be. If you’re worried about trading for someone at that age who’s having a down season , sure I get that. But the comparison to Foligno in regards to them being similar players, and the injury concerns are just not logical.
Could he get injured tomorrow? Sure, anyone could he’s been an extremely healthy player though, and he’s been a horse in the minutes he plays. That’s not a risk factor that you have to worry about more than any other player who is playing hockey in the NHL.
Would be intriguing to see ROR with Nylander as well. Hopefully he is healthyI could also see ROR on Matthews LW. Solves our biggest forward need in our top 6. My only worry about JT and ROR together is they really need to dominate the cycle since both aren't exactly fleet of foot.

For some teams it would be an overpayment ( teams that are nkt true contenders like Toronto)Seems like a massive overpayment to me. It’s funny how the HF community values picks so much and Toronto just traded a first, second , third and a fourth, for a guy that is having a down year.
If he can dig pucks out of corners and on the boards for Nylander he's a massive improvement on Kerfoot.I’m not going to act like I know Nylander playstyle. But ROR as shown this season doesn’t mesh well with up and down full offense players. He plays a controlled heavy forecheck game. He may honestly be best fit on the 3rd line for you guys opening up matchups for your top 6 or simply just feasting on the other teams bottom end guys due to them having to matchup that way.
It’s a nightmare for other teams. Was a great move by the Leafs imo interested to see how it plays out.
Love the after the fact rationalization, had this be proposed on the board, people would have shot it down. For some teams it would be an overpayment. But for Toronto , it’s very likely late picks and depth pieces t will probably never be impact NHL’ers. Teams have a finite window. Leafs are going for it as they should . I hate the Leafs and hope they choke again but this move is pretty damn good IMO. Stacks them uo the middle amd adds playoff experience and a player that has proven to be able to produce and be clutch in the playoffs. Entire purpose is to win the Cup. Not collect draft picks.
Sounds like a good fit for Tavares... Tavares doesn't seem to fit into the off the rush type scoring the leafs Nylander, Marner and Matthew seem to do mostI’m not going to act like I know Nylander playstyle. I could see ROR meshing with Marner even. Both very cerebral players. But even if he plays 3rd line C it'll be an extremely valuable role.Sounds like a good fit for Tavares... Tavares doesn't seem to fit into the off the rush type scoring the leafs Nylander, Marner and Matthew seem to do most
I didn't like the Foligno trade when it happened and still think its Dubas' worst trade in his time as GM of the Leafs. I think this is a decent deal in that although they gave up alot for him ROR is a much better player and brings more to the Leafs than Foligno ever could. Well as long as he's healthy and is ready to go that is.Best advice, just watch.
I thought Foligno was going to be a huge get...........
Best advice for all Leafs fans, just f'n watch and,
Hope for the best, expect the worst, in that order.
I think he likely fits well with Marner if we are using him on the LW, whether that center is Matthews or Tavares (or ROR at center and Tavares on the wing). Marner's not a forechecker, but is ridiculous on opening windows in a cycle game due to elusiveness, IQ, and vision/passing, and any high-IQ guy who is willing to go to the net, or get to the right place, Marner will generally find them for that opening. I think he brings great versatility to the line-up allowing us to provide multiple different looks in line-up construction.I’m not going to act like I know Nylander playstyle. 3rd line CExcited to see how quickly Leafs fans turn on ROR after they realize he can't skate anymore.
