Acciari is the underrated get for Toronto. I think he'll be damn good for them. We'll see with ROR.
Yes upgrading two spots is huge. Not only adds better , more effective players ,it removes players from the roster that are not as good and people slot down the lineup for better matchups.
Leafs did good. If people look past their dislike for certain teams , you can not let that dislike warp your opinion and see that this is a good deal for the Leafs. It makes them better.Period. And the cost is relative. If it helps them win , it’s a massive bargain . The players they got tonight is 10000 times more useful to them than using picks that might be good 4 years from now.

From Blues

Acciari is the hidden gem in this deal. He’s been a PERFECT bottom 6 forward for the Blues this year and consistently one of their hardest working and most effective players this season. Acciari's 168 hits on the season automatically vaults him to the top of the roster

Seems like a great deal for STL, you can judge how Leafs did after the playoffs.

Honestly a great part is the Leafs add an intense leader. Our leadership group isn't as intense (i mean our captain is John Tavares lol) and generally more laid back. Keefe himself has mentioned we get quiet sometimes on the bench

ROR hates to lose and makes it well known. He injects an element this team sorely needs

He's so intense he'll drive through a Tim Horton's for his team.

Dont know to much about RoR tpday, but seems to be a legit gamble. Upgrading two spots at fwd makes Leafs almost a powerhpuse upfront. I thought dexence was their big need, but Dubas cant help himself... but that fwd group is like a national team.

Idk if I've seen a trade where a third party eats up some of the cap hit, but this is a dangerous prospect if a team truly wants to go all in and pay the price to get a really good player for cheap cap hit. An organization like the Coyotes (with cap space to boot) could theoretically rack up a few extra prospects and picks by doing this in future trade deadlines. I think the only balancing factor is the available resources a buying team has to give up and how much they're willing to sacrifice for a cup run. This adds a new layer to an era where Cap Space is very much an asset that rebuilding teams can leverage.

The biggest need was absolutely in the forward group. Maybe add a depth defensemen but it really isn't that big of a deal if they do nothing with the defense.

The best part is how people say ROR and Acciari aren't worth a 1st rounder, but *Barclay Goodrow* was worth that. Natch Blake Coleman.

Neither had won a Cup. Neither had been a Conn Smythe winner. Both were young NHL players trying to make their mark, and were unknown commodities.

But yeah... ROR isn't worth a 1st. FFS.

ROR puts the Leafs over the top today. Getting Pat Kane at the deadline would pretty much make them the favourites to win the cup.

Wait and see value-wise. Needs to be re-signed and TOR needs to win a round, minimum.

But to acquire a guy with ROR's resume to play 3C + Acciari for a 1st, 2nd, and filler is pretty big in the short-term. Unmatched centre depth.

Still have next year's 1st and didn't sacrifice a single top 10 prospect. Still have Knies, Robertson, Niemela, Minten, etc. and hopefully it stays that way by the end of the TDL.

I think Dubas did well. Looks like lots of folks think he overpayed. I disagree. It's the market rate, plain and simple. And getting Acciari as well is amazing!!

The Leafs want to win the Cup. This is the way to do it this season.
