Confirmed Trade: [TOR/STL/MIN] O'Reilly, Acciari, Pillar to TOR; Abramov, Gaudette, ‘23 1st, ‘23 3rd, ‘24 2nd to STL; ‘25 4th to MIN

 ROR can't skate with Kuch or Point... maybe Maroon
His slow skating didn't stop him from ending Boston's top line in the cup finals

(though Kucherov is an all time playoff performer so I expect him to still do well lol)

I hate to admit it (and I mean HATE) but I feel this pushes Toronto passed the 1st round.
Absolutely, Best top 3 centre group in the NHL. ROR is still elite defensively and everyone on the Blues is having a down year offensively, so i think he's gonna start scoring more now. They have a good shot at winning it all barring health. Great trade for them imo.

So ...
Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Kerfoot-Tavares-Marner
Jarnkrok-O'Reilly-Acciari
Engvall-Kampf-ZAR

?

Leafs make a trade with Blue and Wil

Anyone calling this an overpayment for the Leafs is a sorry, twisted individual. They don't lose from their current roster and are in win-now mode, adding two quality players. Typical HFBoards insanity.

Great trade for Toronto, let's see if Tampa responds.
Tampa responds to what? Their lineup is already better than the leafs and they are playoff proven.

What is Toronto’s projected lineup now up front?
Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - O'Reilly - Engvall
Holmberg - Kampf - Acciari
ZAR/Hunt/Simmonds/Anderson/Robertson

or

Tavares- Matthews - Nylander
Bunting - ROR - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf- Jarnkrok
Acciari - Holmberg- Engvall

Lol are you trying to get me riled up by making fun of the Leafs?

You do realize I used the word “hate” twice to describe how I feel about them potentially getting to the second round right?
It was a serious question. I’m not too impressed by it or their netminders ability to choke for decades, so I ask

I don't mean "don't use the picks now", I mean they arguably used a lot of picks inefficiently and had better ways to use those picks to improve the team.

I definitely won't criticize the Leafs for the move. Like I've said a couple of times, whether this deal is a success or not depends entirely on whether they win. It's just I think they probably overpaid for what they're getting here with ROR's decline. But like I said, all that matters is whether they can actually go on a deep run. No one will give a shit about overpaying a bit for ROR if they win a Cup because of it.

I don't usually like applying this logic to teams making trades, but this feels especially true with the Leafs this year. It's all-in, now or never with them IMO.

Of course. That's the definition of every single deadline deal ever. Only 1 team, the Stanley Cup Champs, can claim success. Every other team over-pays, technically. Of course, half the time those picks they gave up never amount to anything and wouldn't have helped the team that traded them either so we fans tend to forget about that part.

Love it for both teams. STL got a good return and TOT got a great defensive minded cup winner and captain Center who can also chip in offensively.
