Confirmed with Link: TOR sign RD Zach Bogosian [1 year, 1M]

Nice.

Hes not a major impact player, but gives the D a physical skillset that it needed more of. A better option than Marincin too.

Looks like someone may be on the way out though. That blueljne is getting crowded

He's an extremely limited player

The deal for Holl or Dermott (I'm thinking Holl after Dubas last presser, I also don't see how somebody on the backend isn't moving) better be bloody good if we're shipping a better player out

If there is hockey next year, the scheduled will be pretty freaking condensed and it would make sense to play players when they're at 100%. Have some NHL calibre players with varied skillsets and the other team won't be able to properly form a scouting report - there's a huge difference in how you attack Bogo as opposed to Liljegren or a lefty like Lehtonen.

Interesting.

Rielly. Brodie
Muzzin. Holl
Dermott. Bogosian
Lehtonen

At least we have 6 nhl defenseman. Been a while since we could boast that. Would love to upgrade holl if possible.
Also allows the Sandin-Lilegren duo to continue top line minutes on the Marlies. They can both stand to still get stronger and faster anyway.

This move to me is great because it pushes Marincin back down to 8th man where he belongs

Columbus currently has Mikko Koivu as their 3C. I wonder if something around Kerfoot for Korpisalo could happen and then move Andersen to Carolina for futures/prospects. Saves a good amount on the cap. Allows for Mikheyev and Dermott to be signed and could potentially leave enough room to sign Haula as the replacement 3C.

Just thinking out loud because I currently don't see how we can fit Dermott/Mikheyev.
First off no, Grigorenko/Jenner/Foudy will be the 3C. Second off Kerfoot sucks and we don’t want him, especially not for an All-star goalie making under 3 mill.

no no no. We don’t want Kerfoot, idk how many times / ways we have to say it.

Rielly Brodie
Muzzin Holl
Sandin Bogosian
Lehtonen Liljegren

Dermott gone.

Lilje and Bogo will compete for 3RD games.

Sandin and Lehtonen will compete for 3LD games.

Not too shabby tbh

Can change Sandin for Dermott if yall prefer him and let Sandin cook more but I think Sandin is better. Dermott has no brain

There's likely going to be some rotations happening between Sandin, Lehtonen and Bogosian. They are going to rest them if everyone is healthy... but we all know that injuries hit so depth is good to have around.

Dermott is pretty good and definitely should not sit out.

This confuses the shit out of me. Either Dermott is in fact getting squeezed out despite Dubas' comments (which basically means we sacrificed him for Bogosian, which f*** that), or there's still some money on its way out in the form of Kerfoot or Holl. But if Holl's out, then we have a hole in our top 4 again, which neither Dermott nor Bogosian can fill, and if Kerfoot's out, then we have a hole at 3C.

I'm ever so curious, 'cause at a glance, I'm not thrilled with this.

I'd expect Kerfoot to get moved like Johnsson was today and after Dermott and Mihkeyev and Anderson are re-signed we'll scoop up another couple of depth centers to replace Kerfoot.

This isn't the mainboards. Odd thread for you to be lurking.

We don't have to agree but if you think Grigorenko is better than Kerfoot, you're going to be disappointed.

Less depth than Sandin has to claw through on the LS.
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Dermott/Lehtonen - Bogosian
Lehtonen/Dermott - Liljegren
Sandin - ?
Both Dermott and Lehtonen an play right side as well.

Here's a quote from Dubas just yesterday
Dubas said:
At this time, we certainly would project to see Travis Dermott playing on his off-side. He has done that going back to Erie. He has done it with the Marlies and with the Maple Leafs. He seems to be very comfortable there. We would like to see him grow there and continue to challenge up the depth chart with the intention being that, four years from now, after TJ’s deal has come and gone successfully, Travis has ascended up our depth chart that way and those are the types of minutes that he is playing well.

Quite a lot of players to claw through. Sandin has to go through the same players on the left as well, but I see him as much more ready.

If it is Holl, though, who replaces him? Are we pencilling Lethonen in there? Are we giving Dermott a legitimate shot to lock down that spot this season? What if neither are up to the task? Then we just have a gaping hole in our top-4 RDs again.

Not really tbh

I do keep forgetting we have Lehtonen though, but I don't know what to expect from him

Those that think a defense man that was a regular on a Stanley Cup winning team isn’t valuable to the Leafs in the their top 6 is out to lunch.

This is far from a depth signing. He played a regular shift for the Lightening and earned it for a reason. He did what they asked him to do with less responsibility.

He will slot nicely on the bottom pairing on the right side with one of Dermott/Lethonen/Sandin. With Holl on shutdown pair with Muzzin which worked well and Reilly with Brodie.

If there are any deals it will be Dermott traded along with other pieces for higher round picks as Sandin and Lilly will be given another year to develop.
