Deal Dermott? I dont like the Dermott for Bogo trade off personally unless there is a trade lineup with a decent return. If Dermott is another "soft deal" like AJ this is a meh move to me IMO.

we got Sandin and Lily knocking on the door; even if Dermott is dealt I think that would be fine.

I feel like Simmonds is just basically holding cap space for Hyman's new contract next year. He will get replaced by a minimum contract the following year, and the difference will go to Hyman.

Yeah Simmonds is a reclemation project but useful one.

Have you seen Marty play? This isn't a crapfest on him, but anyone else will be better than him. If he's a 7th dman, then so is Lehtonen, Rosen, Liljegren, Sandin and should all be given a shot over him.

Right but he is a guy who can travel with the team and step in for a game or two when we need him. Sandin/Liljegren should be staying in the AHL unless they are given a larger stretch of games, and Rosen will likely be given a shot to compete with Marincin for a #7 job.

Good pickup for the third pair. Nice to add some truculence around the edges instead of the Marincin's and the Malgin's of the world. I don't see Bogo as anything more than our 6th or 7th dman, but that's fine for a million bucks.

Really wonder what we're gonna do with Liljegren though. Lot of depth for him to claw through now.

Or they can go 4-4-1 and risk losing one of Kerfoot/Mikheyev. Hyman is a UFA so they can sign him after the expansion draft. All depends on how Dermott plays this year on the right side (if we even end up getting him signed).

Perfect, I wonder if Liljegren and Sandin lose exemption if they play x amount of games

but to have a 2022 Exempt D-core of:

Argh dumpster diving after all! He is a 4-5 and Holl is a 4-5 so that puts Brodie on the top pair. They aren't going to add another RD unless Holl is going the other way. Not quite what I had hoped for but I don't consider Bogo as junk, just not a real fix like this club needs.

Leafs have moved on from Barrie and Ceci to now T.J Bodie and Bogosian manning the right side defense in their top 6.

I personally think that is an upgrade and should help reduce the goals against as a result.

So now we have Rielly,Brodie,Muzzin,Holl,Dermott,Lehtonen,Bogosian and Sandin on the backend. That's 8 guys who could reasonably be on the d-core. Plus only 1.5 million in cap to sign both Dermott/Mikheyev

Something has to give here, doesn't feel like we're done yet. Great offseason so far though!
