Also love the fact Dermott took the hometown discount. Just took his qualifying offer and that’s the end of it.
Ya it seems like usage often isn't taken into consideration when talking about Dermott who has been an extremely sheltered 3rd pairing defender since he entered the league. That being said has been excellent in that role and hasn't been given a real chance to play in the top 4 as Muzzin/Rielly are blocking him. Let's hope he can play the right side and give us an option in the top 4.
Or he truly wants to be a Leaf and understands the current situation. He's a hometown boy, nice to see. Hope he gets a nice little raise next contract
I'll help you out by saying the purpose of GAR is to not make Leafs players look as good as possible, so your criticism makes no sense. There is nothing advanced about the so called "advanced" stats and they don't have context. I am not gonna do that dance with you again.
whats the mathematical formula for GAR? What are its limitations?
everytime I've asked that question to you whether is xGF, corsi, etc....you basically stop responding; I do "numbers" for a living so don't like it when they are thrown around without context.
As you were.....
Yeah, don't engage the guy who thinks that everything is an overpayment. It's his qualifying offer, literally the lowest amount they could pay him.
I agreeAnd Tavares too![]()
He had no choice if he wanted to play for this team.Thank you Travis for not putting yourself ahead of the team!
Let's gooooooooooo
Lol give me a break TSN.
I don't see this at all.So does this mean that he's gonna be put on the 3rd pair again and not given a shot with Muzzin on the 2nd pair?
Okay you're right, a defence which brings back 5 of the same guys (Rielly, Dermott, Holl, Muzzin, and Marincin) will find great success all of a sudden.
also the goaltending depth is as good as ever. Campbell and Dell are both good backups. Also I think the forwards are better defensivelyThe defense that was 10th in all situations xGA/60 after Keefe took over is bringing back its 4 best regulars and adding TJ Brodie & Mikko Lehtonen with Sandin & Liljegren patiently waiting for their shot.
I'd say our defense is in a better position than ever.
They need to trade one of him or Holl. This makes it easier to trade him cos it's cheap.
Think about it, our defense is a disaster yet we're still bringing back all five of Dermott, Holl, Marincin, Rielly, and Muzzin. That's very little turnover on a defense. You bring some new names in but too many of the old names are still there.
Dude might find success somewhere some day but he also takes up a roster spot and we know it doesn't work here.
I wonder if this kind of contract makes Dermott more of a candidate to stick around, or an even more attractive trade chip?
