Great deal for us. And smart of Dermott. With the cap crunch and his main camp competition being Lehtonen, he came in even cheaper than Lehtonen's 925,000. Good deal for us for the time being

Tavares I'm fine with... a high prized UFA will be overpaid by default. No doubt there were other teams lined up to offer that + more. Nylander's gets a bit of criticism but I think it's fine, he exceeded it this year and I'm sure he'll continue to do so.

Matthews and Marner both were overpaid the moment they signed that contract IMO.

10M x 6 years
11M x 7 years
12M x 8 years (yes less than McDavid but still 2nd highest paid AAV in the league)

Marner is a winger not a center, gets his points on assist NOT on goals


Both those contracts are ridiculous contracts. Nylander is fine but that contract isn't great; with the way he played first year of his contract (1 year down the drain); and the way he came in last season saying he is going to dominate the league (and didn't really... 2 years gone); hoping 3rd year is the charm.

If Nylander outscores Marner this season, people are gonna lose their minds and I am going to be here with my popcorn LOL

P.S. I am a Marner fan and I absolutely hate his contract

Holl has not solidified himself as a top 4 guy at all. He might find himself out of the top 6 easily and is paid higher than 3 guys who could be better than him.

He has to be better than Bogosian and Lehtonen. Seems like a tall order to me. Bogosian was signed to play and the same can be said for Lehtonen. Bogosian is playing for sure. Sandin and Liljigren get developing time.

Ya it seems like usage often isn't taken into consideration when talking about Dermott who has been an extremely sheltered 3rd pairing defender since he entered the league. That being said has been excellent in that role and hasn't been given a real chance to play in the top 4 as Muzzin/Rielly are blocking him. Let's hope he can play the right side and give us an option in the top 4.

Dubas doing a great job handing out these contracts. But the real mastermind behind making this all work is Brandon Pridham. I don’t think he gets enough credit for his work and is often overlooked with Dubas in the driver’s seat.
