It is indeed a good contract, and i expect Travis to evolve into a bonafide Top 4 defenceman very soon, and at the very least he will be top 6 in our roster. He is still young and has room to improve upon his game.
However, asking to dump Holl, a RHD that formed a good shut-down pair with Muzz, is a harsh take. Unless an upgrade to Holl is to be acquired, he remains an important part of our blue line with the added bonus of having a manageable cap hit on our payroll.

Know what struck me... Liljigren is stagnating and needs to wake up. Same thing Gauthier did, got comfortable. Not good to get Comfortable. Gauthier not signed at 6’5” and almost 240 pounds,good on faceoffs and decent devensivly while they are adding GRIT. If goat doesn’t get that message he really should find another career and he didn’t really care. He should be insulted. Liljigren might want to take notice and step out of his box

Lilijgren is a really solid prospect just not sure where he plays? I dont want him and sandin both playing together. Both too young and need a veteran type guy to play with. If lil was LHD I'd say swap him /sandin/lethenon every few games. But as a righty I dont thin he is experienced enough to play with a younger/inexperienced player right now. I hope he has a big training camp and takes a spot from say Holl

I’m not even sure what to say about this. What a steal of a contract for us, as surely he was worth 50% more. I will take it though, that’s for sure. Hopefully he earns a great contract at some point, and hopefully there is a capability to pay him more, with salary cap increases.

If Dermott proves he is a Top 4 D, they sign him to an extension next summer and find a way to protect him.
If not, he will be playing Seattle.

Am not too worried given we got Sandin/Lily knocking on the door. I am just worried about Rielly's extension and who our new goalie might be;

Holl has not solidified himself as a top 4 guy at all. He might find himself out of the top 6 easily and is paid higher than 3 guys who could be better than him.

Holl and Muzz was not a good shutdown pair in the 2nd half of the season. Like Engvall, it seemed the moment he signed that contract he fell off.

Also, Leafs are 1.1M over the cap with 23 man roster; they don't have to carry 23 man roster they can just roll with 21

I think they can find a way to to make up 1.1M by sending two guys down; I guess if Engvall/Vesey/Boyd (all 3 or 1 or 2) don't make the roster there is also a possibility of them getting claimed so that would help the Leafs cap too

Dubas gets an A for this offseason. He maneuvered the flat cap like a pro.

Dubas deserves a ton of credit, but having Pridhim who wrote the CBA helps a lot.

Tavares I'm fine with... a high prized UFA will be overpaid by default. No doubt there were other teams lined up to offer that + more. Nylander's gets a bit of criticism but I think it's fine, he exceeded it this year and I'm sure he'll continue to do so.
