oh the irony. You seem to be sane but considering we've been seeing ridiculous comments from Matthews will outscore Mcdavid and Selke winner and Marner will score 150 pts, it just seems weird to see that type of comment coming from your fan base. Maybe the 30 mins reports on Matthew breaking a glass board in practice has made me irate and I apologize.

I agree though, Sergachev isnt 100% NHL ready and perhaps one day he'll be a Norris candidate or winner but as of today, he is just an elite prospect with everything to prove.

Without considering value of player vs players, from the Habs p.o.v., we give up an elite prospect and a camp dump for a 2/3 C. Would Kadri be an upgrade on Plekanec, and if so is it worth giving away Sergachev or Juulsen. I dont see how any rational Habs or Leafs fans could say yes.

havent seen either of these. maybe you are just getting a bit carried away.

Kadri given his age and contract is a clear upgrade on plekanek. is it worth it to montreal to lose sergachev? no
is it worth it to the leafs to only acquire juulsen? no

no deal to be made here

How is Kadri a clear upgrade on plekanec? The only thing he has on pleky is age, but Pleky is the 5 times the player kadri is.

The Leafs might have depth centre but it all young guys, who may or may not be good enough for the NHL.
If Bozak was injured who would be the centres....Matthews, Laitch, Desjardins, Holland. Awful, the ideas is to win, not to keep on getting prospects.
l
The Leafs LHD. Rielly, Gardiner, Hunwick, Marincin, Marlie prospects, Valiev, Dermot. So the having the young Russian as a Leaf prospect isn't an immediate upgrade for the Leafs.

Wow just drafted him and he's already winning the Norris?

He's a great prospect but you might wanna temper your expectations a little.

I said within 6-7 years. He is still very young. According to a friend who works as an OHL scout for an NHL team (not MTL, not TOR), Sergachev is going to be a superstar.

I have seen him play several times and he was like a man among boys...as a 17 year old.

The fact is that he already has NHL size and strength. He will likely play at around 235lbs by the time he is 22-23.

The Habs were ecstatic because he blew many clubs away in his interviews at the combine.

How many 17 year olds come to North America and become proficient in English in less than a year? The scout told me that he already speaks English better than 80% of the Russians in the league. Why is that important? Sergachev is very, very intelligent in addition to having all the physical tools. He is shown complex drills and systems once and understands.

Here is a list of NHL stars who also won the Max Kaminsky Trophy as the best defenseman in the OHL
Al MacInnis
Chris Pronger
Drew Doughty
Aaron Ekblad
Ryan Ellis
Brian Campbell
Jake Muzzin

Here is the list of players who won the award AS A 17 YEAR OLD:
Mikhail Sergachev

So I will keep my expectations level high, thanks very much because he is going to be a star in the NHL.

So I guess it will be him and De Angelo slugging it out for Norris trophies than. There are lots of players who won that award who are great defenseman and there are some who barely played in the NHL.

While I agree he looks like a great pick, assuming he will literally be the best defenseman in the league in 6 or 7 years is less than speculation at this point.

Last I checked Ekblad won that award too. If I was a betting man my money would be on him being a Norris trophy winner in 6 or 7 years if not earlier and even that is guessing at this point.
