You have no proof, or even back up on this. Its a joke. For all we know it could of been figuring out the benchmarks for the bonuses. Which we don't know yet.

I don't think max bonuses were on the table all along. That's not how a negotiation works. The team doesn't go "we drafted you #1 OA here's the most lucrative contract we can offer."

It's only a cave if Lamoriello started with "we absolutely refuse to give bonuses." I don't think he did. I think he started at a lower point and then came up to meet Matthews because of the kind of player Matthews is. Which is what his quote reflects.

Many said that his recent history hasn't done well, and that's he's too old school. I always sted that both Babcock and Lou would have to change.

So you believe some baseless speculation that Lou still operates like he did in N.J., and then tweets came up saying that Lou operates differently here in T.O, and that there was no tension/problems signing Matthews, and in fact the contract was done in about 10 minutes, but you still hold Lou and his past ways accountable. Yes you're wrong, and b your logic you have to agree that Florida, Chicago, Tampa, NYI, Edmonton, etc., when they didn't sign their first overalls until mid July - early September, that higher ups also stepped in ?

Anyhow I know not to waste my time with you, I just found it funny how there were tweets that pretty much debunked your beliefs that Lou was still playing hardball like his time in NJ and that was friction between the 2 parties, minutes after you posted.
