Oh no, we might have to bury 100% of his contract with a single paper transaction!! It's over Leaf fans..
You can't bury 35+ contracts at all. Even in the minors you have the full cap hit. In the second year you can get 100,000 of relief by burying the contract, as it can only be done to years 2 or later into a 35+ contract.

People are here just trying to give themselves the copium they need for their fear of Toronto.

They saw the Leafs just give it to Tampa, and lose out by 1 goal in game 7, in a series where they were the better team much more than they weren't, a series in which the Bolts' best players were smothered and forced to focus on defending the Leafs' best players which led to them not producing anything outside of the power play for 7 full games.

So then the cap situation looms for Toronto and they're all smug because there's no way the Leafs can keep all their best players and improve the team.

Except that a key player signs for barely above league minimum, a player-coach is likely to sign another min salary contract, a bunch of money is coming off the books and it's likely that one of the kids pushes a player like Kerfoot out, freeing another $3m.

If Dubas can get Mrazek's deal off the books somehow, they have quite a bit of money to improve on their below-league-average goaltending of this past season.
Fear of Toronto?
I guess you use whatever you need to so you get through ANOTHER failure of a season.

Oh my god it's even worse, they'll have to spend a 7th round pick dumping 1x 800k!!!

Damn, 2 more years of not being able to cheer for the Leafs I guess. Absolutely hope this guy goes out cup-less.

Kyle Dubas often hits than misses. No one better out there the Leafs can get. I think he'll have a great offseason for the Leafs and this is not a good, but a great start. Giordano played extremely well for us in his time here.

Leafs get these sort of advantages every year and still can’t win a round? Lmao. Maybe more upfront cash bonuses and hometown discounts and they’ll get there in a few years

Because the Leafs are a contender, despite the playoff results, because when you finish top 5 in the NHL you are a contender and players will take deals to play for a contender
It has nothing to do with that at all. Mark is best friends off the ice with TJ Brodie and was born in Toronto. He wanted to finish his career in his home city playing with his best friend.

Best of luck to the knees of star players in his new division. Slower Kneeordano gets, the more the leg will be sticking out and the more he will have to jump into legs.

I know how you're feeling Kraken fans. It's like our captain Joe Pavelski leaving San Jose and seeing greener pastures in Dallas, literally. It hurts to lose your captain, your leader man.

There can be multiple reasons

Oh, that trope never does get old.

I don't even know who you support, but unless that team has won a cup recently, it's been riddled with the same amount of failure.
I was born/raised in Chicago so I’ll take my 3 cup celebrations since 2010.
But understand something there are teams in the NHL that giveaway talent and accept cap dumps to keep costs low. All of them have won a playoff round more recently than the leafs.
No other team has “been riddled with the same amount of failure”.

Mark since his Norris trophy : 208 games for 3 different teams, 22 goals, 50 assists, 72 points, -4, with 123 penalty minutes.

He is 39 when the season starts. Leafs sign him for 2 more years?....

Every team needs experience to D, but Giordano i think is not the guy anymore.

Why are all of you looking at the contract? 800K, for 2 years, sure its amazing contract but..

But Leafs are giving a top 4, top 6 spot for a player who is almost 40... who obviously isnt
the same player who won the Norris

who isn't exactly a play-offs performer..
