Wow, I figured he'd take a discount, but was still expecting $1.5 ish per season. This is great. He looked good on the third pair and should help Lily as well.

No, but you’re talking shit about the Leafs, which seems silly given the Jets season.

I mean, technically , I was talking shit about the idea that talking shit about the Leafs was ridiculous and that their season was some big win.

I picked the Leafs in 7 after all, to my stupidity.

Still a really good signing though.

He's definitely worth that contract.

I'm not sure a 39 and 40 year old version of Giordano is a defenseman in a Cup contender's top-6, but it's fine for a team out after round one wraps up.

Nothing wrong with this deal at all. Even if the absolute WORST case scenario of him being cooked, we can bury his contract for no loss of cap (800k is irrelevant to Rogers/Bell)

But more likely, we have a #4/5D for a fraction of the cost

Call he and Tavares the Pajama Buddies.

Living out their dream... No Cups, but they get to play with their childhood team.

And Spezza and Simmonds and who else?

Except Tavares (huge hometown discount lol), all their pajama boyz are in the twilight of their careers...

Even Montreal doesnt go that low to try to appeal to the "homeboy" factor to build sympathy for the team

Even if he's outright bad there are so many outright bad dmen that get near league minimum contracts he will still be much, much better than them.

We were paying Nate Beaulieu more than that

People are here just trying to give themselves the copium they need for their fear of Toronto.

They saw the Leafs just give it to Tampa, and lose out by 1 goal in game 7, in a series where they were the better team much more than they weren't, a series in which the Bolts' best players were smothered and forced to focus on defending the Leafs' best players which led to them not producing anything outside of the power play for 7 full games.

So then the cap situation looms for Toronto and they're all smug because there's no way the Leafs can keep all their best players and improve the team.

Except that a key player signs for barely above league minimum, a player-coach is likely to sign another min salary contract, a bunch of money is coming off the books and it's likely that one of the kids pushes a player like Kerfoot out, freeing another $3m.

If Dubas can get Mrazek's deal off the books somehow, they have quite a bit of money to improve on their below-league-average goaltending of this past season.

LOL. Yes every team that doesnt win the cup changes all their players. You speak an uncommon wisdom. If your team lost would you start by purging your top 4 D?

Word is Spezza is probably coming into the office.

He had a career year his first year in TO so you are wrong. 47 goals.

They do? Why are people acting like the team needs big changes. They were a team who who have beat probably anyone in the league but the team they got. They need an upgrade in goal, team defense is fine and improving. could use a retool of the 4th line and another top 6 forward

I'm a Leaf fan, not a Leaf hater by any stretch but yeah they do have a lot of work to do they need to completely redo the goaltending not just the #1 goalie but the backup and at least one of the marlies goalies too.

They need mor production out of their bottom 6 so that needs to be upgraded

they need to decide what to do with Muzzin

yeah they have a lot of work to do
