Pretty sure Dubby's goal will be given to Connor. Dubby didn't actually touch the puck.
Kind of hard to see it actually touch PLD's stick, but you can see the puck change direction before it goes off the defenders skate.

Some thoughts after 4 games.

When Helle is on his game the Jets win.
PLD is playing like a 2nd C.
Copp just might be a top 6 forward.
Jets D still a tire fire defensively.
Jets D much better offensively.
Career year for Connor?
Waiting on Ehlers to break loose.
PP? To early to tell.
PK? To early to tell.
Jet's defensive game still a tire fire with or without Scheifele and Wheeler playing.

Maurice needs to ditch M2M, just burn up the plan and start fresh. This team won't play like they can until that happens. Going on year three and that defensive scheme doesn't work.

I'd imagine so much else of our game falls into place once that happens.

I wanna say say that I'm surprised the game wasn't sold out but all things considered just glad to see people at the game

I'm not too surprised, I've seen numbers as high as 75% of fully vaccinated people being apprehensive about attending indoor events with full capacity. I'm surprised the lower bowl was as full as it was honestly.

it's pathetic how negative you are about everything jets that's not blake wheeler

It was not a great game by the Jets just shows what happens when Helly keeps them in it. I hate to jump on the negatron train but they were out played and fortunately opportunistic.
The Quacks are a scrappy bunch.

I thought Svech looked good - he's playing very safe and doesn't usually put the puck in bad spots. I hope he gets a run of games with Dubie. He might open up a bit more offensively and that line could be very productive.

Helle still looks off but he battled extremely hard, hope he builds a bit of confidence from that one.

Schmidt is as advertised, good offensive instincts but a bit of an adventure in his own zone.

Connor is next level right now. Such a threat every time he has the puck .

Beaulieu made the most of his minutes and probably prevented a pp goal against.

Its going to take a while for our d to gel but I think they'll end up being really solid.

I really wish Vesalainen could get himself into shooting position more - he has a frigging cannon.

Ehlers just a hair off, can't wait til he gets on a roll. I really like toninato, Harkins and Nash. Can't ask for better bottom line guys.

Stastny is struggling for sure, doesn't look like he did much in the off-season.

ok, and that's fine to say, but the poster I quoted was overly negative and has a history of being overly negative

Someone is going to pay Copp big bucks hopefully it’s someone else. As we don’t have the cap space with pld’s big raise.

Time for some quick thoughts before bed (son had a practice tonight so I recorded the game)

1. Who dreamed up the Jets' "breakout pattern" that involves passing the puck through the middle in the defensive zone, especially if there are a lot of enemy soldiers in the area??? I mean, c'mon already!

2. Hellebuyck is back. 'Nuff said.

3. Schmidt is very slick offensively, but still sloppy defensively.

4. Morrissey is our best defenseman, and is on his way to having a big point-producing season from the blueline.

5. The "Boo" birds will hate this, but Boo-Boo had a very good game. I'm not saying that it's sustainable, but gotta give credit where credit is due.

6. Another strong game by Dubois. Very strong, actually.

7. Connor scores. It's what he does.

8. I predicted Ehlers would get three points tonight. I was wrong, but a big point game by him is coming verrrrrrry soon.

9.I liked Stanley and Demelo tonight. I wonder if Demelo will ever score again. Doesn't matter, he's solid.

10.I still really really really hate our passive penalty kill.

Ducks are better than advertised in the pre-season, but the Jets' strategy of pushing the puck into the crowded slot as some drunken breakout plan has a way of making other teams look good.

Otherwise I thought Beaulieu was one of the best defencemen tonight (what is this team?), Pionk was good, ditto DeMelo and Stanley, Morrissey average to slightly below-average, Dillon still finding his place but generally solid, however Schmidt is starting to worry me a little with his play - those blind suicide cross-ice outlet passes are going to kill us, and his endurance isn't looking to be the greatest. Hope it is just early season jitters.
I thought Morrissey played well, but Schmidt is inconsistent in his own end.

Ok watched the game. Glad the team got the win. You can still that the team is still looking to build chemistry on the ice. A lot of what they are looking to do likely looks better in another 5 or so games.

Still there are a number of issues that really need to be cleaned up moving forward:

-Puck management exiting the zone is critical for this teams success. We have d pairs, especially the first that are designed to get the puck and quickly move it out. When our forwards cough it up in the zone or just out of it creates chaos every time. That absolutely needs to get straightened out.

-Defensive systems still need a lot of work

-Offensive systems still need some polish. No reason we can't work the puck like the Ducks were tonight.

Players:

Helle, rebounded with a strong effort

Morrisey played a solid game. Thought he stood up well at the line and was making smart decisions with the puck. Nice goal, I have no issue with his play so far this year. Schmidt showed his offensive chops tonight but still looks weak to me one on one and his puck management in his end needs to tighten up a bit.

Pionk/Dillon: This pairing is still very much a work in progress. They aren't really in sync yet and it shows. I expect it will come in time. I think Pionk is just feeling pressure due to his contract, just needs to settle down.

DeMelo had a nice defensive night. Stanley was solid doing those little things.

Dubois was great. Doing all the things you want a center with his skills to do. He was opening up and providing good support down low. He was driving play down the ice and he was using his size and strength to separate and win pucks. Conner fits well with him and was playing a very good game. Using his Speed, hands and shot. He also was managing it better in his end and drove play better. I think he ays a better all around game away from Bkake and Mark. Svech was solid I his role tonight.

Ehlers had some more jump and it's only a matter of time before he finds the stat sheet. Stastny just doesn't look to have it anymore. I'm not sure where he fits truth be told as I want to see Conner and Blake split when we have everyone. Copp was a nice game all around again.

Lowry just isn't impressing me much this year. He's not moving his feet that well and he's been one of the biggest culprits at giving the puck up in out end. Ves looked good tonight, he was using his shot more and was starting to show a lot of confidence with it down low in the offensive end. Harkins was just ok tonight, made some plays but gave the puck up in bad spots.

Fourth line was ok.

I don't think things were as bad as some have been saying. Some sloppy play is due to chemistry and new systems issues. I expect most of those to clean up and our offensive prowess to improve as it does.

I'm still concerned about the defensive schemes and puck management in our end.

Yeah he's aged out as a top 6 player. I was concerned this would happen. Hopefully we use him in a fourthbkine/Pp role when everyone is healthy.

When he was interviewed after signing he seemed fully aware that he would be looking at a reduced role. I don't think he'd be too upset with reduced minutes.
