Here are the Bust Rates at each ranking:

1st: 2/12 (17%, Vesalainen x 2) (this one's out of 12 because we know up to 2022).
2nd: 2/10 (20%, Klingberg and Niku)
3rd: 3/10 (30%, Cormier, Telegin, Vesalainen)
4th: 4/10 (40%, Petan x 2, Niku x 2)
5th: 5/10 (50%, Gregoire, Machacek, Redmond, Petan, Vesalainen)
6th: 5/10 (50%, Telegin, Cormier, Petan, Kosmachuk, Comrie)
7th: 5/10 (50%, O'Dell, Klingberg, Spacek x 2, Berdin)
8th: 5/10 (50%, Maxwell, Pasquale, O'Dell x 2, Berdin)
9th: 7/10 (70%, Too many to list! 3/10 that weren't busts: Hellebuyck, Samberg, Kovacevik)
10th: 6/10 (60%, 4/10 NHLers: Lowry, Chiarot, Stanley x 2)
11th: 6/10 (60%, 4/10 NHLers: Copp, Kovacevic x 2, Chisholm - maybe jumping the gun here)
12th: 9/10 (90%, 1/10 NHLer: Copp)
13th: 6/10 (60%, 4/10 NHLers: Lemieux x 2, Harkins, Kovacevic)
14th: 9/10 (90%, 1/10 NHLer: Poolman - although his career may be done before he hits 200)
15th: 8/10 (80%, 2/10 NHLers: Harkins, Stanley)
16th: 9/10 (90% 1/10 NHLer: Lowry)
17th: 9/10 (90%, 1/10 NHLer: Harkins)
18th: 10/10 (100% busts)
19th: 9/10 (90%, 1/10 NHLer: Appleton)
20th: 9/10 (90%, 1/10 NHLer: Copp)

*My definition of a bust is <200 games for a skater, <100 games for a goalie. So Postma is not technically a bust, but Petan and Comrie technically are.

Lowest ranked player to hit the 200 game threshold: Ben Chiarot and Mason Appleton ranked 24th in 2011 and 2016, respectively. For Appleton at least there's the excuse that he was drafted out of the USHL and buried in the Jets' deepest prospect pool ever (37 prospects were voted on in 2016). Chiarot was 24th in a paper-thin 2011 prospect pool (and didn't crack the Top 20 until 2015, when, I can only assume, he rubbed a magic lamp he found in a cave in the Arabian Desert).

Highest ranked player to bust: Vesalainen ranked #1 for 2 consecutive years in 2018 and 2019.

Once you're out of the top 8, the chances get pretty slim. The Jets had established a pretty deep pool by 2015 so you get a couple of guys like Harkins and Lemieux who bubbled up from the mid-teens and a few way down there.

Fun fact: Hellebuyck debuted as the 21st ranked prospect in 2012 - 13 spots behind Eddie Pasquale (8th). Oops! Hellebuyck went from 21st to 9th to 3rd to 2nd and then back to 3rd before graduating to multiple Vezina wins.

Kevin He would be the biggest gainer, as of Christmas 2024. Kieran Walton would also rise a few spots. Brad Lambert has been unimpressive, and it almost looks like his ceiling may be that of Roslovic. Jager would be my choice for #1. Salomonsson and Chibrikov would likely rise into the top 5, while Barlow and heinola would fall.

Chaz Lucius could be top 5, and it's sad how injuries delayed the promising forward, but maybe the Jets luck out, and he recovers. I have doubts as to whether Rashevsky will ever become a Jet. Milic has been unimpressive. DiVincentis has been great, and I do not understand why he was shipped down to the ECHL.

Have not heard much about Freij, but hopefully he will pick it up a notch in Europe.

I'd say the Christmas rankings would probably be something like

1.Yager
2. Salomonsson
3. Chibrikov
4. Lambert
5. He
6. Walton
7.Freij
8. Barlow
9. Di Vincentiis
10. Lucius.

There's a few 2nd tier prospects that might turn out to be NHLers that have received less fanfare.

Milic would be falling.

Kuzmin and Bauer too.

Heinola isn't really a prospect anymore. Drafted a year ahead of Perfetti he's still trying to get into the lineup.

Rashevsky is one that has probably aged out of prospect status.
