Better yet...move DeAngelo to his off side...where he looks just fine.

I was listening to blueshirts breakaway and the guys there were like... Maybe DeAngelo is worth a 2nd. I was like wtf? The guy is a mid 20s 40 to 60 point player with years of rfa control ahead of him... How is that worth a 2nd?

Id trade DeAngelo in a package to get byfield or something (like if we had the #10oa pick and someone wanted to trade 2oa for 10, Ada, lias and a 2nd, I'd do it in a heartbeat... But other than that I'm not really interested in moving him.

Yeah for some reason people are disregarding how good DeAngelo is, I don't get it. He's now 5th in the league in scoring for defensemen and he's 24 years old in his second full/real NHL year.

Guy has some stuff about I don't like and he's never going to be a fantastic defender but holy crap you don't just go looking for excuses to trade a 60-70 point defenseman!

You do anything you can to find a way to keep him and yeah that includes moving him to his off side or trying Fox or Trouba there, whatever it takes.

ADA picking those corners tonight was a beauty. And that pass for the Kreider goal. I think ADA is a star. Not a superstar, but a star. That was my written prediction before the season started, that he will establish himself as one. Also, I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but when he plays good defense, it generally coincides with him putting up points. Strange. Or maybe not. Or maybe I’m wrong.

Yupp. Remember when me, you, and maybe 2 or 3 others wanted 8 years if he would have taken it? I wanted at least 5-6 years. I know hindsight is 20-20, but looking back, lots of interesting takes.

@EdJovanovski was criticized heavily (and I mean really heavily) for suggesting Tony was already better than Trouba. Seems to me like he knew what he was talking about.

So many people were saying he’s “gotta earn it,” when guys like Hajek and Keane essentially have the same contracts.

I wanted to extend him for as long as possible before the 2018-19 season even ended, but as the 2019-20 season was about to begin, I kind of wanted him to suck it up and just take the deal. Sucks that Gorton couldn’t have done more. I’m still one of Tony’s biggest fans, but I get why it couldn’t be done.

Still, there are some haters (not much on here anymore, but on BSB and twitter), that must be fuming right now, and it feels pretty good.

Quinn with some nice words
When you actually hear what the coaching staff & other players have to say, watch videos of his interactions with other players, and read his interactions with all his teammates & former teammates on Instagram; it’s such a stark contrast compared to what Blueshirt Banter & Rangers Twitter would have you believing. I swear that garbage podcast talks about us needing to trade him & his character issues every single episode. Look how happy Mika was for Tony when he got the hat trick, Hank had the biggest smile I’ve seen him show all year when Tony skated by him on the bench after it; he is very well liked by the lockerroom

Just have to ignore them my man. If he is signed long-term, I wouldn't be surprised if he's given a letter at some point, especially if you are looking for a new leadership group, with possibly Kreider and Fast departing soon, and Staal gone, at the latest after next season.

I would never call Hank greedy for getting money that he's owed, but I will also say that naive fans that want to do him a solid and think he's owed to retire on his own terms because they sleep with a picture of him under their pillow need to consider this and grow the **** up.

He has to be bought out.

Baby Brooks asks a question post game about ADA’s past behavior.
It’s a great game by Tony and that’s what you bring up? Every time I used to see Brooks at MSG he had Brutta Faccia or ugly face in Italian. Sour puss to the max. He is miserable . Torts,Boyle had a point

Thing is, we obviously need to re-sign him and the folks that were pushing to do so in the off-season were spot-on. At the same time we have to accept the reality that just as Tony could continue being an elite point producer for the next decade, it's also a possibility that he randomly declines in four or five years and is viewed more like a current-day Karlsson. And then there will be complaints about how "This guy's defense always sucked and now he's a PP specialist making X million per year, horrible deal!" I don't really foresee that happening, but it's a reality when you go signing guys to the real long term, eight-year deals. Of course it's a gamble you take, but not one without potentially negative consequences in the long term. We haven't exactly done well with OFDs.

When Quinn puts DeAngelo and Fox out together, who usually ends up on the leftside?
They switch off a lot during the course of the play, but usually it's Ada, and he's stated at least once in the past that he actually prefers playing his offside (if I'm not mistaken)

Hmm interesting if true

With Lindgren injured I’d like to see DeAngelo play a game on the left.

Long term if he was kept I’d be curious to know who you play DeAngelo with. Fox is pretty good defensively so maybe that could work to compensate for DeAngelo

IIRC, he did play on his offside in juniors a bit; Trouba did play LD extensively in WPG with Byfuglien too. I don't see the need to move any of these young defensemen simply because they're 3 RHD. Just keep and play your best players.

I’ve said this many times but when you look at what DeAngelo did in juniors. I mean just ridiculous numbers he’s found himself. This was always his upside if he took care of the maturity issues. He’s a star player. If you didn’t see that coming last year you weren’t paying attn.

So having said that you move whoever else you have to keep your star players. Tony played a ton of the left side in juniors almost exclusively and when you watch him with Fox he doesn’t miss a beat. We’ll figure that out. But get him under contract. The trade talk needs to end. Nobody asked Columbus if they were gonna trade werenski or Boston if they were gonna trade MCavoy. I fail to see why we would trade Tony.

Buchnevich goodbye Staal buyout see ya later krieder if we must adios Even Fast. You don’t pay these people and trade stars. So tony will be going nowhere.

I didn't hear it, is there more context to the question? if it was just being negative to pee on everyone's cornflakes then a bad take...but if its in the context of discussing how much he has grown as a player, then it might not be so bad.
