Love Tony D, but lets be fair, Skjei, while not great, is still better in his own end than Tony.
I just don't get the continual ****ting on this guy. He isn't an all-star, but his is a decent second pairing D. Much better than most teams roll out on a nightly basis.

People shit on him cuz he regressed. And that contract is not worth it imo. Plus the future look bright on the left side with potentially Miller, Robertson, Jones and one of Deangelo, Fox, Lunkvist if one can play on their offside.

Skjei was awesome yesterday but he is just too inconsistent. Kind of reminds me of Kreider in that when he is on he looks like one of the best left wingers in the league.

We didn't have the money to sign him. Not sure why everyone keeps harping on his one year deal. Even if he signed, most teams would've signed him for 2-3 years since he hasn't played a full season yet. Hopefully they'll be able to sign him long term this year even if it costs them a bit

For all the talk about who will get moved when they need to sign Fox or Lundkvist is ready or whatever, here's a simple solution. Just move one of Fox or ADA to the left.

Not sure that works. Has a player ever converted from shooting right to shooting left? You see it in baseball with switch hitters but never in hockey.

Seth Jones was the LD with Shea Weber his first two years in the league IIRC

Yeah, there's really no example of a Right-Handed defenseman playing the left side full time, that I can recall. You see lefties playing the right side sometimes because RHD are more scarce than LHD, they've had to do it at lower levels like juniors so they are more used to it.

Neither Fox nor ADA will play the left side full time, there's just no precedent for that and it makes no sense, it's a big adjustment with more risk than reward.

Trouba did it in WPG

The Blues are doing it with Faulk/Pietro/Parayko and Carolina did it last year with Pesce. Just because it hasn't been done often before doesn't mean it can't be done. But we are still a ways away from that.

2013-14:
643 minutes with Mark Stuart
205 minutes with Dustin Byfuglien

2014-15:
901 minutes with Mark Stuart
223 minutes with Dustin Byfuglien

2015-16:
568 minutes with Mark Stuart
470 minutes with Dustin Byfuglien

2016-17:
624 minutes with Toby Enstrom
324 minutes with Josh Morrissey

2017-2018:
805 minutes with Josh Morrissey
50 minutes with Tyler Myers

2018-19:
944 minutes with Josh Morrissey
276 mintues with Nathan Bealieu

Really just one season where he spent significant time with Byfuglien, and he still played more on the right with Stuart. It works in stretches and situationally (like offensive zone faceoffs, or if you're down and pushing for offense) but to think one of them is gonna basically permanently switch to the left-side long-term, is again unfounded.

In fairness I believe they would have used him more on the left side if they hadn’t had injuries in their right so often. By no means am I saying it’s ideal but it’s an option. Especially with guys like DeAngelo or Fox who have the puck skills that many other d-men lack

If Name was going to get traded 1 game into the season, why not just have traded him 3 weeks earlier? Boom there is your money.

Well who says they weren't trying? Sometimes there's just no one who wants to be the other necessary half of the transaction.

I would be more of an advocate of TDAN if it didn't take time in Quinn's chateau bow bow repeatedly to bring his level of play to where it should be.

How much money do you think that trade made way for? So ADA signs a 2 year $6M contract instead & Lemuix makes $1.5M thi year. Yayyyyy

Pretty interesting tony was voted funniest guy on the team. Not sure we’ve really ever known is he well liked in the room considering his past but something like this tells you he means a lot to the guys in the room. That’s important for him as part of the core
