What's driving the train on TDA is what you all complain about, a veteran blocking prospects.

When they added Walker, a veteran RHD who should have significant value at the TDA given he'll now be two years past ACL surgery, and still put up xCFrel + 0.50, xGFrel +1.40 last year (albeit in a sheltered, 3rd pair role), second best among starting Kings D-men, TDA became superfluous.

While Walker and Seeler are best suited to 3rd pair roles, Walker will probably pair with York or Zamula to start the season, depending on what happens with Sanheim. Risto will pair with Sanheim or Zamula, and Seeler with Attard/Grans. The wildcard is Andrae, especially if he has to return to the SHL if he doesn't make the team.

So fitting in TDA would be difficult, you could try him with York and maybe that would work, or Seeler, which did work in a 3rd pair role.
But you want York to be the PP1 QB - remember, this is a rebuild?
So there is little reason to bring TDA back, for one thing, Walker is more likely to have TDL value, how many veteran D-men do you want to start?
And Walker will be a much better partner/mentor for young LHDs like Zamula and Andrae.

I think they'll buy out TDA if they can't work out a deal, but since the retention slot is regained after the season, and there is no other contract for which they'll need one this summer, it's not a big deal. They're not going to want to retain for 2 years with TK, or 3 with Laughton. Nor will they need to, those are below market contracts, at worse, you take a smaller contract in return.

would you like to bet any money that both Zamula and Attard will not be n the top 6 come opening night?

edit: or 'Grans"

Torts likes Zamula. Likes his IQ and presence. It's time for him to start.

Attard is the prototype RHD, big, mobile, great shot, they gave him a year in the AHL to work on fundamentals, they'll want to give Shaw a chance to refine them.

Ginning and Grans are the long-shots, they'll probably pair together in the AHL (the Swedish connection) and get promoted after the TDL.
Andrae is the wild card, depends on whether they can keep him in the AHL, though another year starting in the SHL won't kill him.

it was a simple question. Do you want to bet any money. They will not have 2 of any of those you mention in the top 6 come opening night.

Anrdrae has zero shot to make the team out of camp imo. Torts probably has no idea who th ehell he is anyway

Torts doesn't care who he is, he'll watch him in TC and evaluate him on the ice.

You people have some weird ideas about Torts, he's far from the hardest ass HC in the NHL, Cassidy would probably win that award (the Boston players wanted him out, so they flop in the 1st rd and Cassidy kisses the Cup).

The problem in CBJ was well, Columbus, like Calgary and Winnipeg, is not a preferred location for a lot of players.

Players aren't worried about Torts, the problem in Philly right now is why would a veteran player want to go to a rebuilding team where he's going to be out of the playoffs and eventually get pushed down the lineup by younger teammates? Now a younger player should jump to come here, he'll get PT and a chance to build up value for his next contract - see Tippett for example.

would you like to bet or not? seems like a slam dunk for you win some money no?

philly isnt preferred location anymore either. Players are not lining up to play for Torts.

That is your take in bold. Funny how the flyers management had to tell him to play frost and the othe "younger" players. Or did you forget that?

Torts will not watch him if he doesn't know him. He will be "watching" the players he id somewhat familier with.

Is there really a thought that Torts helps bring players into Philly?

I won’t go as far to say he’s a deterrent, but he’s sure as shit not some draw to bring guys here.

Unless NHL players are all primarily into being subs.
I don’t think he’s a deterrent. For as many people hate him, the same amount love him, prob more love him.

I just doubt Krug wants to come sit on a rebuilding team.

Morrow is a legit prospect with NHL upside. So that doesn’t fit the description.
Yeah, to good to be true that they get him back but he fits the description as far as he is an older prospect (20y/o), unsigned and just entering college.
I don’t know how many other older, unsigned prospects that they have. Maybe Suzuki or Jamie Rees.

I do agree that at this point even if they suck - I would prefer low risk vets, in terms of how they play the game.

Tony isn’t teaching anyone anything even on offense, and I want whatever kids to have someone at least half reliable/predictable as a partner for the next few years.

Buh bye.
