Gustaffson, TDA and Ghost are similar styles of players, offense first, physically soft defensemen.
Gustaffson was developing into a real defenseman under Q, then fell apart under Colliton, and didn't recover until last season.
TDA was so good offensively he was able to get away with being undisciplined as long as he has a veteran D-man to CYA like Slavin.
Ghost may have chafed, but the best thing to happen to him was Hakstol, who at least taught him a modicum of discipline.

But this is why I scoff at the "new defensemen," being mobile and skilled isn't sufficient to make you a good player, you need to at least be adequate on defense. Sure Makar is a great offensive talent, but he also plays defense, not just goes through the motions b/c his offense could let him get away with it.

You deliberately misunderstand and shoot down Ghost to defend a guy who failed drastically.

It's still weird the price they played for a player this organization has never had time for since Fletcher took over. I'm sure if he wasn't from "Philly" it never would have happened.
For sure, if he was from Western Canada the idea never would've floated into Fletcher's little pea brain.

The origin of the term is partially due to Italians using it to jokingly refer to themselves. It’s basically a bastardization of an Italian slang word — guappo.

The without papers thing is an urban myth.

Without papers is a good one. My dad (Tony) once told me the origin of his name...To: NY. For the record I'm mostly Italian (Sicily) and Irish, with a little bit of other European heritage. My last name though, sounds straight Eyetalian

It's as bad as it gets. But Chuck Fletcher put this organization in such a zugzwang by overpaying both in trade, and contract for DeAngelo, who has a sullied name around the league - which limits his suitors - and just isn't a defender that moves the needle in a positive direction for a bad or middle of the road team.
Zugzwang!! A man of culture!

Gustafsson magically developed as a scorer when he played almost half of his 5v5 ice time with 2018 Patrick Kane. Then he fell off when that stopped.

I’m sure that was a coincidence.

Hmmm deliberately dishonest lack of context and cherrypicking while comparing across teams

It must keep you awake at night that your boy Gus signed for just over minimum wage after only playing two playoff games. :snide:
