I mean I would have taken that in the offseason without the benefit of hindsight but the problem isn't so much the trade, the problem is our lack of personnel acumen punting on a guy who obviously had another gear in him.

lol, come on. Sharangovich is doing exactly the same stuff in Calgary that he was doing here, he's just scoring goals on 1 out of every 5 shots. Unless Calgary has figured out how to make him into prime Alex Tanguay every year, he is exactly the same guy otherwise.

He's been forced into a center role and doing an ok job at it. If he's an NHL caliber center he's gonna have a long career.

These trades are usually underwhelming. The GM got what he could.

Only two arguments you could make are that he should’ve traded him earlier or that he shouldn’t have and should’ve kept him. Neither of those arguments make much sense to me.
With that kind of return, he should have traded him later, not earlier!

We got the kind of assets you need for a Graves type dman that was apparently so incredibly important to the team.

Was Fitz supposed to just let him walk for zero because he didn’t satisfy your expectations?

Ok i wish he didn't retain so much, maybe 25% or something, 50% seems a little excessive, the real money is not much and we have cap, except when they raise my season ticket prices... :sarcasm:

If Fitz flips it for a goalie, RW1 (idk who would go for that but never know), or a LHD with these then its fine, I highly doubt we're gonna use that pick next year anyway

Doing what he was doing here lol...his best season here he had 46 points in 76 games, he's almost matched that (one behind) in 62 games this year and that ain't all 'shooting luck'.

He also 'did what he did' here the first two seasons then got marginalized the third year and is at worst back to a slightly better version of his first two seasons. Not exactly good asset management last year was it? Small wonder both he and his wife thumbs uped the Lindy axing on Instagram.

We are trading away an expiring contract. We were thrilled with Fitz when we bought an expiring contract for cheaper than expected last TDL. Now we are calling for his job cause we sold lower than expected? It's the market price for a rental winger.

This is a classic Shero move. Acquire a 2nd and a 3rd then swing them for another asset. We aren't likely drafting with those picks.

Fitz's biggest screw ups is he had no hedge for an injured defense and he still hasn't executed on aquiring a goalie. Those calling for his job complained constantly last off-season that we didn't need a goalie since we had Schmid, that Graves was awful, Severson wasnt worth resigning, etc. You're complaining about actions Fitz took that you supported, and now want his job due to the results.

Unless people seriously think Fitzgerald turned down better offers, I don’t understand the complaining about this at all.

I'm disgruntled because since the season is a giant botch the Devils should retain 8% on their 9% increase on season tickets prices since they love retaining salary so much.

Rental Wingers don’t get much, especially someone like Toffoli that doesn’t bring much value outside of scoring.

That's more of a coaching issue I'd say, but you added the note on the instagram post lol.

Again, I think the move for Toffoli was perfectly fine. Unfortunately, it didn't work out with how the team performed and we had to send Lindy off at the end of the day. Easy to look back now and hate it, but we can't argue with what Toffoli gave us.
