His production died at the end of last year as well, so his resume is really half of one season
He's a sophomore player who had a second half scoring slump. I don't see what your point is. If he had maintained his first half scoring pace he would've been closer to 50 points and his ask is probably at least a million per more than his current asking price. His production died at the end of last year as well, so his resume is really half of one season
What have you got of similar value that shoots right?well...what do you want for him?

I'd probably steer away from him at this point. Another trade request...better hope to lock this guy up for 8 years when you re-sign him.
I wonder if a team can sign him to a no trade request clause.
Just curious, what's the point of playing hardball over half a mil on a rebuilding team? I don't think players talk to each other in regards to how contract negotiations went, so I'm confused where the issue is. All this does is hurt Arizona's chances of resigning him when the contract is up.
He's worth 4.5 over two. The team offers 4.4 over two and he demands a trade.
This is the second time he's demanded a trade. He's had two NHL clubs and demanded a trade from each. He's only been an NHL player for a whopping two seasons. His agent is absolutely poisoning this kid's professional reputation. He's aways going to be looked at as a pain in the ass and as damaged goods. And for what? For what?
Rieder is not Hampus Lindholm; he's a player Arizona can afford to live without. He doesn't really have any leverage and I don't know why he's digging his heels in the sand here. Arizona's offer is fair for what he currently brings to the table. If I'm Chayka(sp?) I call him on the bluff unless someone gives me something in trade that makes the team better.
His worth is not for any of us to say but frankly...If I played for a club that barely spends any money on ACTUAL players, and then won't meet my demands of a paltry 300K a season, I think thats pretty sad...
Were not talking about mega bucks or mega term here... or a stanley cup contender...
Why nickel and dime him? If chayka doesn't sign him...its truly a mismanagement of players.
Being hard-nosed is fine but this is sad and shows inexperience

So what you're advocating for here is that players should set their own prices and GMs should bend over backwards to give them that? The offer from Arizona is perfectly in line with other similar calibre players. Why is the issue with Arizona, and not Reider? This is the second trade he's requested after not really proving himself.
You give one player that extra value they want, and all players are going to want that extra 10% or so to sign in Arizona. For a team that is trying to pinch pennies with its budget, that is a death sentence. This sends a message that you'll get your fair value - you want that extra 500k? Earn it.

Rieder is not asking what Hampus Lindholm is asking. Call a spade a spade.
Rieder for Trouba as a base makes way too much sense.
