Liljegren has poor instincts and poor feel for the game, the looming dangers, he is very casual in the wrong moments. I fear for Liljegren in the NHL with less time and space and smart high IQ players all around him, that he may struggle to stay in the NHL.

LOL!......This could not be more untrue. He has been by far the most steady D on the Marlies this post season, and is the kind of player that will thrive given his transition game playing with guys like Marner, Matthews, Tavares, Nylander, etc up front.

Really? I thought he’s looked really solid with crisp passing and a great feel for the games these playoffs. I get you don’t like him and might not be willing to change your mind but I’ve thought the recent praise he’s been mostly universally getting has been well deserved.

He's 19 and is playing all the hard minutes along with Rosen and both look ready for the NHL as soon as next year, not to mention he's a champion having won the Calder cup last year and is helping the team overachieve with his veteran-like play this year.

You ever watch a Marlies game or just the scoresheet?

Liljegren has good* instincts and a good* feel for the game, the looming dangers, he is very good* in the critical* moments. I fear for the NHL with Liljigren* with less time and space and smart high IQ players all around him, that he may surpass expectations* in the NHL.

Close, made some changes

Elite prospects and hockey db have Liljegren weighing 192 lbs, but that was his weight before he has bulked up. What do you think he weighs now? 200? 205? His build now looks similar to Rielly’s.

Liljegren's adjustment to the NHL is unknown, for me I have some concerns. I hope I am wrong, but his mental game is puzzling at times. If the LA Kings did indeed choose Durzi over Liljegren I can see why. Does Liljegren have alot of upside in my eyes? I dont think so. I think if Liljegren makes a career in the NHL, its by being a defense first defenseman who keeps it very simple and tries to avoid handing pucks to much in the mold of Ron Hainsey. Solid defensely, dont worry about offense. It appears, this is what Keefe has really tried to do with him in the second half and into the playoffs and its a smart move by Keefe and MLSE.

Just saw that Liljegren’s OZS% was 28.6%. Next lowest was 50% I think. Really speaks to the trust Keefe has in his defensive game. His possession numbers are ridiculous this post-season considering how he is being deployed.

This is the norm for him and I think every game in the playoffs he has been over 50% in CF including a couple games where he was over 70% CF. The guy is a machine and dominating men as a teenager...

They didn't. If they did they were stupid.

Durzi is an overager dominating teenagers (much like Hollowell).

Liljegren is younger and has almost two full seasons as a professional under his belt and this year he is playing the hard minutes on the top pair in all situations. They aren't even close and its silly to think so,

I didn’t realize that the Kings took Durzi over Liljegren. Seems absolutely absurd that Liljegren would have been available in the Muzzin trade. Is there a link for that? Guess we got lucky!

They didn't. It was a rumour, never confirmed.

But yea if they had scouts that preferred Durzi they should be out of a job by now..

Ah, so I guess somebody that doesn’t like Liljegren and is high on Durzi just made something up and passed it off as fact. It’s sad that some adults have the maturity of grade school children.

I'd speculate he has a very good chance of starting the season on the Leafs.

There is however going to be a scramble with all the new faces available who aren't just kids out of junior.

Lindgren, Kivihalme, Rosen are probably going to be in the mix, but they're LD.

Leadership on the defense is going to heavily rely on Muzzin and Rielly, but I expect the Leafs to bring in a veteran.
