For the most part, Sandin was getting more opportunities because of injuries to guys on the left side, while the right side was mostly healthy.
We had, to start this season:
Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Holl, Sandin, Dermott standing in Liljegrens way. I'm counting 5 lefties and 1 righty. Liljegren should have been getting more chances imo

I thought you were referring to last year as well.

I agree that for the most part Lilly should've been playing over Holl. Dermott and Sandin rotated quite a bit as well but I think Sandin had more to offer.

Played over 20 mins with both special teams. Like seeing him stand up too physically. I thought his game was a bit off today but still solid. If Keefe is actually thinking of scratching him, he didn't show it because he played him a lot with regular mins on both special teams.

Tonight we are playing our best D configuration in my opinion so we will see how we look against a seasoned playoff team in Caps .. Holl is out .. Gio and Lily playing together and I expect they will get load of minutes

I really hope Keefe goes with this top 6 in the playoffs with Holl as the 7th man. Liljegren looks like he's finding his stride and its good to see Keefe finally give him some PP time as well where he's not looked out of place. At this point I don't see any reason why Holl should be starting in the playoffs in front of Liljegren or even Lyubushkin.

Just watched the highlights as I was out to dinner and if you were just reading the Boxscore you’d think Liljegren had a terrible night. Honestly the second Washington goal was a bad read by Campbell, nothing really Liljegren could do. As for the third goal both Gio and Clifford let their man go in front of the net and easy tap in.

Nice to see Liljegren minutes up into the 20’s. Still think he needs more seasoning but good to see he is getting more opportunities.

Plus how did Liljegren not get a secondary assist on the flip to Engvall who had a great saucer pass to Bunting!!

That was a great play at the end of a long physical shift. He was going toe to toe with Hathaway all night.

I really just want to hear the TSN broadcasters-CoCo, Hayes, O-Dog and everybody who slagged this kid do a 30 minute expose about how wrong they were and have him call in. Not A fan of Cherry but this kid deserves an appearance on Coaches Corner. Shades of Kadri!

Leafs have not developed that many D man over the past 3 decades, it nice to see one blossoming before our eyes.

Off the top of my head I can only name Kaberle, Mo, and now Lilly.

He's never been much of a goal scorer at any level which is strange because he has a good shot. He's shooting more now which is a change from his Marlies days where he would pass off a little too much.

Best progression I have seen in a young Leafs d-man in years! I was on the fence about this guy earlier in the season, he's made me a believer. You go young man!! And only 22.

More skilled players giving him better shooting lanes. The AHL is more grinder style and Lily clearly doesn't like to just throw the puck on net, he's selective.

He could show more offense at the NHL level because of the cleaner style of play.

Lily is the real deal. He's developed so well and he'll only get better. He's a top 4 dman right now and I wouldn't say him becoming a 2b guy isn't out of the question.
