Your right they've killed almost all of them outside of 1 since game 1PK is in a 1 for 10 or 11 aren't they?
Though if holl is on the ice for 1-2 EVS goals a game the damage is being done even with good PK

Yesterday when Holl was in the box the Leafs did an excellent job of killing the penalty. Later as well when Kerfoot, another 'important' penalty killer took that idiotic delay of game, we had maybe the best kill of the entire series. Other guys are perfectly capable of stepping up.
Agreed. There seems to be a misconception that these 2 players are Keefe's "toys" however, Dubas is 100% on board with these 2 players as well getting the ice time they do.Yesterday when Holl was in the box the Leafs did an excellent job of killing the penalty. Rielly is pretty much the only player to elevate his game for the Leafs so far.View attachment 698559
It's so hard to see a pattern here.
How will Keefe decide if we need to make a defensive change ?
/lol

Rielly-Schenn have been great. McCabe-Brodie have been treading water but given how they’re matched up against the best Tampa has to offer that’s forgivable. Gio-Holl has been inexcusably terrible.
Question is how long can Schenn keep it up?Rielly-Schenn have been great. McCabe-Brodie have been treading water but given how they’re matched up against the best Tampa has to offer that’s forgivable. Gio-Holl has been inexcusably terrible.
And …it's too bad Keefe has made this personal. Holl has been nothing short of disastrous against the Lightning thus far.
he took a shot that narrowly missed the net and rolled around the boards to a Tampa player. I would not call that a mistake. Your post makes it sound like he had a clumsy giveaway. That’s a big stretch.Lily made a costly play up the boards in OT or late third that turned into a chance that Sammy thankfully turned away otherwise it would have been up there in the echelon of Galchenyuk, Brodie, Kerfoot turnovers.
He can ease in but needs to be sheltered.
I think Liljegren looked good, especially for having spent so much time out of the lineup.
I'd like to see him get more games, he's an improvement over Holl.

Perhaps Keefe thought that Holl being the vet and having a bigger body would be more effective against the tough Lightning players, however going by all the regular season play it seemed pretty obvious that despite being smaller Liljegren was the more effective player in most games. Better speed, better passer and fewer mistakes, he should've been in from game 1.I don’t think it’s personal at all. Being an NHL coach is hard and we have to remind ourselves that coaches and organizations have access to data beyond what we can even imagine. So they must feel that there is something Holl has been doing right and have data to support it, whether it’s high effectiveness on the PK or blocking shots.
That being said playing Liljegren was indeed the right call. I’m glad they made the switch.
