Solid, not spectacular. Definitely areas to improve, but hard to imagine he doesn't play a regular role on this team soon.

Even when he's not at his best, he's so steady and reliable that it makes things real easy for his partner and forwards. That's valuable trait that I just don't think Holl has. Liljegren also obviously has higher upside

I'm sure Leafs will have a convo with Lilly that they don't want to do it, but cap forces them too. Marlies atleast get one of the better d man in the AHL for 2 weeks.

They don't need to send anyone down.

This is the whole reason they signed that kid to be backup goalie tonight.

On Timothy Liljegren’s season debut:

I thought he was really good. He gave us some good minutes. He played with Muzz and killed penalties. He had some tough assignments for his first game today. I thought he did a really good job.
A couple of times, they got in behind him, but he also got his stick on some things and broke up some plays at the same time. He played some important minutes for us today. It was a real nice first game for him.

All i can remember one bad play he recovered from send the bum down lol

Overall strong debut. Nothing spectacular but solid (B+ game) and better than anything Holl's showed so far.

Some clumsy plays in dangerous areas but if he actually gets consistent ice-time, those mistakes will disappear. Going from the bench to 2nd pair with tough matchups against a fast forechecking team will create mistakes.

Love when he steps in from the blueline and lets it fly. He has a rocket from the point and it's something lacking on the blueline.

But he'll still sit when Holl feels better. He may get 1 more replacing Dermott or Sandin maybe.

All Dman makes mistakes every game, it is how they recover and play over all.

Lilly did well today. I think if and when he is more comfortable, he will start jumping in the rush more and score a few more goals.

He got burned by stutzle once but recovered well and hell, TJ Brodie is our best defensive Dman and he got absolutely walked by stutzle too, shit happens.

The rest of the game he played really solid, maybe one or two small mistakes, but offset by some great stick checks and nice outlet passes.

Sounds like he's going to the Marlies because of our cap disaster, but he's shown he's ready for some consistent NHL minutes.
